So we have threads on what cars you would have if you were filthy rich, cars you first drove, first car you bought brand new and whatnot. Now let's do another one.

1985 Honda Civic Wagovan (pic of the actual car, not a stock photo):

My aunt sold it to my mom & dad for $500 after she bought her new Odyssey in 98. Had about 150000 or so miles on it. We ended up junking it in 2004/2005 or so because of rust on the underside. Great little car, you'd be surprised what you can fit in one of those. I've been looking for another one for the past few years.

My last car was a 2000 Ford Contour SVT. Definitely the coolest car out of the three I've owned. The special vehicles team tweaked the suspension on the standard Contour and also worked the heads and intake to get 200hp out of the 2.5 V6. Fun little car to drive. Cornered like it was on rails. My GTO doesn't even come close in the handling department.

That thing went anywhere I told it to. Great in the summer with the bikini top and no doors.

One of my favorites was a 1971 grand prix SJ -455. Had a posi-traction option and I picked it up for a steal. That was 1986. I Just happened to also have bought a 1971 Trans-am from the original owner, that same year. That used the 455 HO version of the engine, but a much more restrictive type dual exhaust. Had a lot of fun tearing up the streets, while I stored the TA. Until a juvenile delinquent stole his grandfathers Lincoln and hit it, in my driveway at 50mph.
My 2nd fav, was a 70 GP, ending owning 1 of every year from 69-74.

My 1993 Taurus SHO. Best damn daily drive I have ever had. Great car. I still have it but it is sitting in a field and has not been driven in 6 years. I have project plans for the engine. If I could wave a magic wand every time that car reached 100K miles and it would be new again I would continue to drive it until the day I can no longer drive. It currently has 227K miles and I simply parked it, it did not break down.

2000 Saab 9-5. 120k miles, immaculate interior. heated leather REAR seats for under $5k? Hell yeah. My dad had an S60 R at the time and a need for speed, he kept bragging that he got up to 140 on the highway one night. So, I, 19, took this 8 year old Saab to 145 at midnight on a county road. The next morning I had milky coolant so I assumed I blew a head gasket so I sold it for a big loss. Turns out it was fine, the guy just drained and filled and has driven it problem free for over a year now

89 Ford Festiva.

Why? Because I didn't care what happened to the thing. Someone opens a door in to it? Who cares!

1985 Dodge Lancer 2.2 Turbo 5 speed. It was a dodge, it broke all the time, but for the day it was a sharp looking sedan and listening to the turbo spin up was fun.

I loved that car.

my old 61 scout. that sucker was fun and had a ton of character. and body rust. and house paint on it. and no windows. and a top that didnt quite fit, so it rattled incessantly. but i loved that thing. exwife sold it for 300 bucks while i was working out of town. i had just put a set of bfg all terrains on it, those cost more than she sold it for. i was pissed. i still have pics of that beast, but never have scanned any into digital format.

I loved my 1984 Toyota Tercel SR5 wagon - great winter car and actually a lot of fun to drive considering it had something like 72 BHP. Honda and Toyota make such nice manual transmissions that even many of their slow cars are fun to drive with a stick - too bad the manual is going the way of the dodo.

On balance I like both of my current cars (2006 BMW 330i and 2002 BMW M3) a lot more than anything else I've had, but then again one should feel that way about one's current car if finances permit.

I miss my truck the most

'05 Frontier LE, quad cab 4WD. It was comfortable, drove through anything, and had a bed that you could throw anything into. And it was my first truck. Traded it in when I had my first kid because I was worried about getting rear facing carseats in and out.

I'd buy it back if I could.

1965 chrysler newport 2 door big block 383.

Installed a edelbrock performance 600cfm carb and intake manifold it really woke up from the stock carter 2 barrel on there.

Such a huge car you could park a honda civic in the truck and it pulled to much attention if the rear tires spinned...had to get rid of it.

Second choice would be a 1967 dart 4 door slant 6....10k without a single issue...turn key freezing cold nothing could stop it,the most reliable car iv'e ever seen in my life.
Ex garage queen of 25 years a barn yard find

Would buy it back if it was still for sale

1970 Mercedes 200D (no, I'm not that old, drove it as an old timer).

1986 (or 87?) BMW 524 turbodiesel. Unlimited range, indestructible. Nice 270 degree insta-turns on ice.

Errr... I guess my first - a '92 Firebird V6 - beats the other, a '94 GMC Jimmy. It was shiny black, I blacked out the tail lights and tinted the windows, so except for the stupid nose it looked pretty good. T-tops were awesome. Put in a totally ghetto sound system. (Fosgate 10" bass tube in the trunk well and Radio Shack 3-way 6x9's powered by a Radio Shack amplifier. Stuffed newspaper behind the interior panels to keep them from buzzing. Sounded good to teenage ears.)
Horrible handling and no power, but the girls seemed to like riding around in it.

My 98 Camaro. Sure it was only v6, and only an auto, but it was still a fun car and was good on gas to boot (32mpg at 70 on the highway). Well, good on gas unless you had a little too much fun

I will own another, except it most likely will be the LS1 and a manual next time.

Not that I mind my SUV, I much prefer to drive it than the Camaro in the winter weather no doubt, and it is more useful a vehicle since I can actually haul equipment in it, but the mpg isn't as good and it isn't near as fun to drive. For one thing it does feel a lot closer to the 4600 pound brick that it is Although it really doesn't handle that bad for what it is I guess.
