I've lived in the Chicago area all my life, and for a while, I never understood the big craze over "Chicago pizza." I figured that with the technology the way it is allowing knowledge and people to travel so efficiently and often, why is something so basic and normal like PIZZA such a staple to Chicago/the Midwest?
...Then I visited New York and London, for instance. Wow. You guys can't make pizza for sh!t. It was some disgusting stuff, and I tried multiple places. One place in NY even had cut up BREAKFAST SAUSAGE-tasting sliced links with the casing as the topping for their normal "sausage pizza." And another with greek gyro/lamb meat as a topping.
And even worse, most of the crusts were either wet and microscopically thin, soggy and overly doughy, or burnt to a blackened crisp. What the hell, people? It's just pizza, how can you screw it up?
