Single malt scotch, neat.
Gin Gimlet.
http://www.adashofbitters.com/2012/02/01/the-great-gimlet-controversy-2/
4oz Good Dry Gin (Tanq, Beef, Hendrick's)
1/2 ounce Rose's sweetend lime juice
1/2 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
(or an lime juice from one of those plastic lime lime juice things and sweeten to taste)
Prepare like a Martini in a shaker and serve up.
are you trying to say that a gin gimlet is better? I would disagree and prefer vodka
this... whiskey or whisky neat for me.
Scotch has over 400 flavor compounds while vodka only has 4. What I'm trying to say is that vodka drinkers know fuck all about drinking scotch.
Considering I wasn't replying to you, and considering I personally drink mcallen 12 year as my "cheap scotch" and woodford reserve for bourbon, i honestly think you are full of shit, as I love scotch and I love vodka.
Uh oh looks like someone is butt hurt. I was obviously making a joke.

It's technically a "highball" which you apparently aren't looking for (but seriously that's just a subclass of cocktails), but this time of year I love me a refreshing whiskey rickey.
Shot of bourbon
Half a lime's juice
Simple syrup to taste (or not at all if you don't want it sweet)
Ice
Soda Water to top it off
I mix that in a rocks glass and it's sublime on a hot afternoon.
Mexican martini. Pretty much a margarita done martini style. That or scotch.
Been really digging this lately:
Tanqueray Rangpur Gin + tonic + splash of cranberry. Garnish with lime.
Excellent warm weather cocktail.

a rickey is not a highball. it's close. but it's not.
and cocktail is a subclass of mixed drink. not a mixed drink generally.
