It actually depends on what kind of weapon your attacker has. If it is a short sword, then nunchakus are actually the answer. If you need to keep your distance, then a bo staff or a spear is preferable. It depends on the situation.

If he has a short sword, I'll take a longer sword.

Yeah you are right, this is probably the most dominating weapon.
Probably should get some rusted nails and rusted barb wire wrap around the bat too.
In case the guy doesn't die, he will get some crazy infection afterward.

Yeah you are right, this is probably the most dominating weapon.

Besides that, it takes virtually no skill to use, and can be used for both defense and offense. I know I could never block with a sword, at least I have a chance with the bat.
