a nice tire iron or a small aluminum bat

some thing light but sturdy, a sword can easily be turned against you with a slow stabing motion, but a bat on the other hand you can swing once and disable their entire arm, elbow, knee or leg causing more pain and discomfort once that is done you are free to nail them in the face/teeth and disable them perminently

Also called a morgenstern (German for morning star) and a ball and chain mace. The morningstar was virtually identical to the ball and chain mace, the only difference being that a morningstar always had a spiked ball for striking. Like the ball and chain, the morningstar consisted of a metal ball attached by a chain to a wood or metal handle. By extending the weapon?s center of gravity far from the hand, the wielder created a great deal of momentum in a swing. The increased force of impact upon the target was devastatingly effective against armored and unarmored opponents alike.

I can do that too:

The morning star was a medieval weapon resembling a mace, but with a large spike on the end and smaller spikes around the circumference. It was also known as the goedendag (from the Dutch word for "good day") and the holy water sprinkler (from its resemblance to the aspergillum sometimes used in the Catholic Mass).

I'd have to choose the bat'leh.

It may not have been used in combat on this world, but it should have. Weilding it by it's outer grip would allow you to negate any Morning Star type of weapon. The weight & density would overcome most swords. And it would crush any staff.

The forward "Kuhkra" curve of the blade would probably give you the leverage to pierce armor.

The Bat'leth is based from a chinese sword.

Napoleon Dynamite: You know, there's like a butt-load of gangs at this school. This one gang kept wanting me to join because I'm pretty good with a bo staff.
