I usually buy Louisiana hot sauce, but I grabbed a bottle of Cholula to try it. Good stuff. Now I'm wanting to venture outside of my box and see what else is out there.

Frank's

Sriracha is the new big thing, but it's a little sweet for me.

It's good on eggs, but that's about it, IMO.

I prefer home-made mexican-style salsa to most of the "nuk-u-ler hot sauces" on the market. Just by modifying the amount and type of chili used, you can really change up the heat.

beloved patriot Bandito's awesome, I also like the one you bought. The Garlic something or other Cholula's great too. And depending on your tolerance for heat Famous Daves Wilber's Revenge is great. It's kind of like a hybrid BBQ/hot sauce. It's definitely more on the thinner hot sauce like side.

This stuff:

especially 2nd from right, The Especial, or whatever they call it. That stuff is magic.

The second from the left is my go-to. Best Habanero on the market for me. Marie Sharps is also a good standard.

For cayenne, I like Texas Pete.

Tobasco makes enough flavors that you'll find something perfect for you. Chicken sauce has been good to me since I had it for the first time in a hole in the wall in Austin about 10 years ago. The Mexican Lady sauce you found is good, Mexican hat man is good too.

Honestly, if you like spicy and flavor: Get some frozen hatch red chili and make the sauce, you will never go back.

Depends on what I'm using it for. If I could have only one, it would be Tabasco. It's versatile, and has a heat level that won't over power anything. I also like Tropical Pepper Co 4x habanero, and their ghost chili sauce. El Yucateco green has a ridiculous color, but a great flavor. Their natural extra hot doesn't have the stupid color, but it's harder to find.

Franks is worthless, as is Texas Pete. They're both red vinegar sauces. They forgot to put the hot in.

I agree, with Dixy, make your own it is way better. If I am going to buy it though one of my favourites is just this stuff:

I have 2.5 bottles of the XXX, great stuff, my favourite hot sauce. I find most hot sauces are quite "vinegary" like Tabasco and Frank's - they have their uses, but for a lot of dishes I make, it doesn't work well, especially since they are relatively mild. This one has no vinegar, habanero peppers give it a great Jamaican/Mexican type of flavour that I prefer, and it's become my go-to sauce. I accidentally ran into it at a burrito place, and it's awesome with Mexican food. Other El-Yucateco sauces do have vinegar, and XXX is quite a bit hotter than Tabasco. I think it's somewhere around 12K Scovilles, so nothing ridiculous, but for me it's quite a bit of kick, I can't take too hot.

I also keep Tabasco and Sriracha in my kitchen, I like them too, but I use them much less since I discovered the above El-Yucateco.

I tried Blair's death sauce as a lot of people like it, but I wasn't impressed, I think I prefer more smokey pepper taste than fresh and garlicky...

I've been wanting to try Cholula, they have it in my local supermarket, but I already have a whole lineup of hot sauces that will last me years.

depends on what i am having.

Franks is great with chicken, Siricha is good on eggs and pizza, tabasco is good on other things.

Depends on what I am eating also.

Usually on stuff like taco's or chili I use franks red hot and green tabasco.

On sandwiches mainly with chicken and such I use sriracha.

Sriracha on everything. Depending on what I'm eating I also mix it with mayo or ketchup

Franks is the most versatile and most used in our house. Tabasco is a little too vinegary for me.

Chipotle Tabasco, by far.

Or I home-make serrano/jalapeno pepper + vinegar mixtures. roasting the peppers or raw, or throwing in other herbs and flavors always ends up for some delicious home-made stuff, little different every time.

I like Tabasco Chipotle too, but for all those who love it--you should try El Yucateco's it's much better.

These days, cayenne based sauces are for very specific items--like BBQ. I just love the habanero taste so much. It's its own thing and enhances so many foods.

I really want to develop a capsaicin-free habanero, because the flavor is so unique and could be more universal if more people had access to it (the heat-averse types)
