favorite map in battlefield 2?

My favorite map in bf2 is Strike at Karkand.

Karkand is ok, but, I dont' like it that much

I like Karkand. I don't get a chance to play BF2 much.. but I usually keep going to a Karkand 24 hour server and have a great time. I never liked Wake Island. Maybe I just never found the strategies to make it fun.

really? i find the opposite to be true IMO, mainly because the us team can take away the chinese airfield and thus deny them new aircraft and prevent them rearming/repairing their current aircraft. The chinese cannot do the same to the americans.

my fav map though is that dragon valley one. i stay away from maps with jets... jets not very balanced IMO =\ too much pwnage!

My record in Strike at Karkand is about .500, but I won only about 1/6 of my games at wake island, and I played a lot of games there, it's a fun map for vehicles, but not really for ground infantry.

lol ya i agree. jets (J-10 and F-18 especially) is WAAAYYY overpowered. I use jets about half the time I play (as u can see in my stats).

and you can see on my fav maps I've listed, all include jets

I agree about the jets. In some cases it completely destroys the fun of the game, imo.

Damn, you must be a pretty damn good pilot!

I am desperately trying to learn how to dogfight in the jet lately and it's really tough. I have no idea what tactics or technqiues people are using to be so effective at both shooting other jets down and evading being shot down if you manage to get behind them.

For example the other day I was in a J10 chasing a guy in a F18. I stayed on his tail for a long time- few minutes- trying to shoot missile whenever I thought I had a good opportunity. Spent my missile and hit him only once. So I tried a bit on cannon fire and I can't seem to figure out how far in front to lead the guy because it seemed I kept missing.

I lose him then and as Im flying around I get the beeping of a missile lock and I know it's gotta be that F18, so I bank hard right thinking missiles cant track good when you turning (after all, most of my missiles against him were while he was turning so thats why they missed) but I quickly blew up in seemingly 1 hit, or maybe 2 hits in rapid succession- from full health. I've never been able to take out a jet like that and I'd kill to find out how to do that to other people!

If you have any advice on what to do when flying I'd be most grateful!

I use a joystick and am quite comfortable flying. I am getting pretty good at chasing guys and keeping behind them but what I'm lacking is the know-how to take them down. I'm using missiles and cannon completely wrong

How far to lead really depends on ping, but on average (say your ping is 50) you need to lead pretty far ahead of the guy ( a few cm at a 90 degree angle)...

#1 thing to remember: don't ever fly around in missile mode - always go in bomb mode to sneak up on a guy then switch to missiles right when you're ready to fire.

They really killed dogfighting in 1.2 though, and I haven't played the game since that patch.

I dunno man, there are guys out there who seem to know what to do. There's this server I always try to join when I play because its got the best response time for me so my firing is much more accurate than other servers where lag reduces my accuracy. Anyway, if it's a map with jets there's almost always this one guy who flies around completely owning the map. He usually ends a round with 25+ kills and 0 deaths... NO ONE can take him down! Anyone who tries fails. So there's some techniques out there that definitely work despite what the patch may have done. Just gotta change your tactics perhaps.

the techniques vary btwn aircraft, but the common ground is, know where your enemies are at all times, and you have to just know if there's an AA or enemy jet in the area.

Knowing this info can make you avoid them and/or destroy them first before they can get a good lock on you.
