Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is absolutely ridiculous and people can still appreciate it as a literary piece. Not many people believe that it describes real events. Those that do get laughed at.

The Bible contains the views of the people who wrote the texts and of the various editors who modded them to suit their own needs. Just because most of it isn't "true" doesn't mean we should dismiss it entirely.

Alice in wonderland was written as fiction. It doesnt shape public policy and wars all over the planet.

I never said anything about dismissing it entirely. thou shall not kill is a pretty good commandment but unfortunately we dont follow it so GG.

Well to be fair yes this thread does mock Christianity. But it does so solely with exerts from the bible and other holy books. There's hardly a word said otherwise. As such it's one of the mildest such anti Christian threads.

Most of the people I know who actually have a favorite Bible passage at least get the chapter/verse right.

Leviticus 20:27 is "A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them."

It is not "Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard."

Nah it had loads of notes in it about hymns and such, I've seen old ones like that in charity shops before, they are pretty common.

I'd imagine old bibles would be worth the least. No because people don't want them but because they were published in such numbers they are the most likely types of books to survive. It would have to be a REALLY old bible to be worth anything.

Books are surprisingly valueless. Unless it's unusual in some way, they don't command much money. I have a Sir Walter Scott collection from the 1840s, and it's worth about as much as a new set is :^D

Certain 1st editions can command huge price tags, but you're right for the most part books aren't worth much.
