Favourite kind of cheese?

best:
1. Feta - amazing cheese, goes with EVERYTHING, meat, pasta, veggies (try tomatoes or peppers stuffed with feta!) etc. I simply love it, I eat lots of it.
2. Marble - cheddar and mozarella in one..great.
3. Parmesian - veal parmesian, on top of pasta, etc...great cheese

worst:
1. processed cheese - this is a poor imitation of cheese and is simply disgusting. I can't even eat a damned slice by itself since it makes me gag.
2. cottage cheese - another cheap imitation, this time a feta immitation. Tastes bad, but not as bad as processed cheese.

2. Blue Gouda - Gouda with blue veins. nice and SMELLY, the way good cheese should be

If cream cheese counts, it's the ultimate winner as it's part of cheesecake, and it's great on bagels, bread, pretzels, sesame sticks...

1.Gruyere cheese would be my favorite, that stuff is soooo good, just melt a little bit on bread... yum.
2.Colby, but it has to have just the right amount of aging, not too fresh, not too aged.
Runners-up: Most of those good Italian cheeses

2. Extra Sharp Cheddar.

That's the siliest thing I've ever heard... Cottage Cheese has been around for a long time. It's very good if you actually know how to use it.

I don't know about the age of cottage cheese, but its similar to feta and looks and taste like the poor man's feta. I'll take feta any day.

Trader Joe's sells Cabot Extra Sharp Cheddar, a white cheddar that stands up and screams CHEDDAR!!! in your mouth without being the least bit bitter. One of my sisters is a gourmet cook and published food author says the stuff wins prizes all the time. REALLY good stuff.

oniq -- "American cheese" is neither. It's something made from an industrial strength chemistry set. I think it's one of the things we're worried Saddam Hussein is cooking up for chemical warfare. :disgust:
