And he really sucked last year.

That doesn't add up to 'best season of his career' pace by ANY stretch, even with a solid running game.

He only sucked last year after he got injured.

I pointed out that he adds the balance the Vikings needed - they had a great running game, and finally they have a pass threat. They were already a playoff team. While I wasn't very specific - I strongly implied that they were now a better team than the previous playoff caliber team.

LOL yes, pwned. What can I say...it was very difficult to believe a 40-year old drama queen would lead the Vikings to dominance thus far, but here we are.

Odd...I used to strongly dislike Favre during his Packers years, but now I find myself rooting for him because of his "I don't care what people think, I'm doing what's best for me" attitude and signing with division rivals and championship contenders, the Minnesota Vikings.

Maybe Madden being off the air for a while and not shouting "BRETT FAVRE! BRETT FAVRE!! BRETT FAVRE!!!" during Cowboys-Eagles games has improved my opinion of Favre a bit.

Though come on, let's be fair...his meltdown at the end of last year was pretty terrible. Not to mention his last throw as a Packer...that INT which cost the Packers a trip to the Super Bowl.

I can't remember which game it was; it was one of the Vikings games early in the season though. Favre threw a block about 15 yards downfield & leveled the defender. At that point, anyone had to know that he's not in it for the money - he's in it because he loves playing.

I'm almost positive that was the 49'ers game. I remember watching an interview where Farve talked about that play. The linebacker he blocked said something to the effect, "What the hell are you doing down here?"

I've been trying to avoid this but while I hated Brett for 17 years, he's now on my team so I'll cheer for him (I don't have to like him). It's very clear that he's better than TJax or Sage so this is an excellent choice by management (plus they sold somethiing like 3000 season tickets in the three hours after he signed). What I really want to know is what's his value to a fantasy football team? I figure that among starting QBs he's better than Shawn Hill and maybe Edwards.

I'll eat my humble pie. He's been an excellent fantasy QB considering I picked him up off the waiver wire! I'm also stoked that the Vikings are 9-1. What a team.

I know the play, and it was sick. I remember seeing the replay and thinking, "who the hell is all the way down field blocking... is that.... no way."

He loves it, you can tell. Been a Viking fan all my life, never "hated" him, he pissed me off because of the things he does for us now, but I've always had a deep respect for him. Just nice to be on the right side of his passes and general squirrelly shens. He just giggled when Lambeau booed him, he runs down the field and tackles Percy Harvin to the ground, it's just fun to watch.

I became a big Farve fan in the 98 playoffs against San Fran. He through a pick and San Frans DE went for a cheap block on Farve. Farve saw it coming and proceeded to beat the DE down. Any QB who will fight a DE and win goes right to the top of my list of favorite players.
