Fax machine keeps calling my house at weird hours....how to stop it?

Okay, this is getting old. Every few days, I'll get three to five calls in a row from someone's fscking fax machine. Used to be they would arrive during the day when I'm at work, I get home, erase them. Annoying, but not too big a deal.

The last few nights the damn thing calls at roughly 12:30am. I tried *69ing the number, but it's blocked. I'm tired of being randomly woken up at night....any advice? I don't want to leave the phone off the hook in case there's a family emergency, BTW.

heh heh, I had the same problem a couple years ago. I set up some fax software on my computer, intercepted the fax, then called the sender and bitched. He entered the number incorrectly in his fax machine's speed dial.

Have the phone company check their records & block that number from calling you.

Honestly, I don't remember the name of the software. It was a shareware fax proggy I downloaded from download.com.

Any fax software should work, just hook it up to your phone line & leave it set on auto-answer all night.

I know that windows 2000 includes fax software. I've never used it, but it's on my system.

Oh gee. MCI was ever so helpful. They want me to do the *57 trace and then deal with the annoyance call people, etc. That's pretty lame that I'm supposed to do all the legwork. I'm opting for the catch the fax and then fax them a nice, hi-res scan of my ass along with a note to quit f*cking faxing me.
