I was going to say you were wrong, but I guess they now have degaussers that are certified. Last time I checked the NSA was using a machine that squeezed the drives between a couple of big rollers.

It's a NATO facility capable of retrieving data from fairly severely burned hard drives and they could probably restore the disks rolled through those rollers to some degree.

They would do a better job than you think.

A fire burning hot enough will effectively de-magnetize the disk as well as a massive degausser.

Any sulphuric acid beyond 20% would corrode the magnetic material in a matter of minutes-seconds depending on the potency.

Simplest way possible? Grind off the surface material with something, a few strokes will do just fine. You'll be left with the aluminium disks containing no storage content nor capacity.

I wont pretend to understand who/what Trump likes and for what reasons, it seems to me Trump has the same relationship with everyone; befriend them, use them, stab them in the back.
What I take away from this piece is that someone is trying to get ahead of the story and imprint that manafort betrayed his country cause adultery and not treason cause russians.

I get the feeling that the FBI is only mentioning this raid right now weeks after they did it, so that they didn't accidentally tip off anyone else in the Trump Administration about what the FBI was going to do next at that time. Nevertheless, it's one hell of a significant development in the whole investigation.
