I was going to start a thread, but I'll post here.
I've got a bed-bound 97-year-old Moms to take care of, and in midst of arranging in-home care and applying for VA benefits to provide it. I've got my own health problems. I'm overwhelmed. Finally took a shower on Monday -- first time in two weeks. Made plans to get a haircut -- overdue about four months.
So I went down to the hair salon. They don't take appointments. I can only be away from the house for so long. So the plan was to be at their door at the 10AM opening time.
A gaggle of four old white men (but younger than I) were ahead of me. I'm not sure how this conversation developed, but I made a careless joke. That is, it was careless, but I do this sort of thing anyway. I like to stir the pot when I'm away from home.
BONZAI: "Well, after witnessing events over the last five or six years, I've decided finally to embrace socialism!"
OLD MAN #1: "Wha-a-a-t?!"
BONZAI: "See, I can't have any regard or respect for anybody -- as a human being, as an American, as a voter or citizen -- who would support a criminal like Trump for another run at the presidency . . . "
OLD MAN #1: "Wey-ull! Do you know who the REAL CRIMINAL IS?"
BONZAI: "And who would that be? . . . ."
OLD MAN #1: "Joe Biden is the real criminal!"
BONZAI: "Are we all adults here? Or are you just some toddler in a sandbox throwing it in my face? That's the most absurd remark I've ever heard!"
OLD MAN #2: "Let me tell you something, buddy! Trump is a victim of a smear campaign . . "
BONZAI [interrupting]: "You're out of your mind! I know more than you . . . . the evidence and facts are so numerous against Trump . . .
OLD MAN #2 [interrupting]: Let me tell you something, buddy! . . .
It dawned on me that these people aren't going to listen to any facts. So I decided to end the entire exchange with a voice loud and violent:
BONZAI: F*** YOU IN THE HEART WITH A TELEPHONE POLE, YA SPACE-ALIEN A**H***!!
Two old ladies wearing masks appeared to have momentary PTSD, digesting the image painted with my words. An SUV passing by with the window open briefly jammed his brakes and looked toward us. The mall area turned so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The birds in the trees stopped chirping.
With people like those wandering around, this isn't going to end very well. With this sort of dialog -- people making absurd lies -- the lies murder the Truth. Eventually, we won't be making exchanges in words. The messages will all be hot lead.

I saw a snail . . . crawling on the edge of a straight-razor . . . .

So, back to this thread, it seems that the media is now echoing a sense of apprehension that the Trumpers will react violently to the scrutiny of Trump. I don't want to calibrate official action and media comment according to "apprehension."
Trump needs to serve time. Why do we want to use kid gloves in holding people accountable? If Trump goes to the slammer, I'm all for raising MSNBC weekend ratings with "LOCKUP: From the White House to the Big House." They should broadcast it incessantly to Red State TV at the corner of Prime Time and Sesame Street . . .
