I think Mr Weiner threw his soon to be ex under the bus.

Hillary will do the same.

Haha having been through a divorce (although certainly not for sexting an underage person mind you, so to hell with Weiner) that wouldn't surprise me. Nothing more dangerous than a bitter ex-lover!

So FBI is investigations are now live reality shows? That's the corner Comey painted them into when he went down this road of trying to appease Republican politicians. Can you imagine if Trump wins because of this, and then Comey says, sorry we looked into these emails, there was nothing new there. Where does that leave the FBI as the entity that threw the election to Trump on an unsubstantiated intervention 11 days before the election? Or if Hillary wins, and GOP attacks the FBI for not doing more? Either way he can no longer perform his job as FBI director and should resign.

It's certainly a fine line that has to be walked. If nothing's found then releasing this affects the outcome of an election that's a problem. But if there is something legitimately there (and he believes the chance of that is great enough to warrant this) then he comes under fire for hiding it. He's in a tough spot either way.

I didn't read the thread but it's hilarious how quickly the fbi/comey went from illuminati stooge to the second coming.

This will be the pattern of her presidency..behavioral and criminal information will be dripped out until she gets impeached then the dam will break and all involved in her established pattern of scandals and criminal behavior will rat each other out. It will be a "progressive" circular firing squad.

I agree. I honestly have no clue what he is doing and am shocked he would basically choose to end his career like this.

Can anyone think of a similar announcement by the FBI ever? Ever?! This is career suicide and really makes the FBI look like its being manipulated for political gain. Talk about rigging an election!

There isn't really a fine line there. There is a pretty thick red line that he crossed. His job is to investigate and refer to prosecutors if there is a case. If there is a case, then person investigated is prosecuted. If not, an innocent person should not have their reputation tarnished by disclosing details or even the existence of an FBI investigation in real time.
If there is something legitimately there, he can bring the case once he has it. But if there is no case, he can not undo the damage that he is doing to an innocent person. It's not a tough call if you are a responsible person. It's basic fairness to not err on the side of doing harm to a person who is innocent until proven otherwise. But Comey thinks that this election is a trial, and he has to broadcast his investigation in real time and let the voters decide on the limited and incomplete information at the time, even if it turns out to be false later.

As werepossum offered, it's CYA by Comey.

Congressional witch hunters: When did you learn of this?

Comey: The day before I sent you the letter you released to the public for partisan political purposes.

End of subject. Capische?

I defended Comey's integrity when Repubs tried to discredit him & I defend it again when others attempt the same. He earned my respect a long time ago-

To be honest...I can't see many people changing their vote to Trump because of these e-mails. It does change the media narrative for a while, which is why the Trump campaign and Republicans have been so giddy. But for better or worse, the narrative is largely driven by eyeballs and clicks, so the question is whether this topic is baked-in so much that people just aren't interested enough to truly take the focus off Trump's idiocy between now and Election Day.

I thought I would return to just let you guys know how awesome this is. I think Comey screwed us back in July and seeing this news today has been absolutely glorious. I am not saying it will destroy her campaign, since it should already have been destroyed and 90% of the elite in the country are going to protect her and the moneyed shenanigans they love. But it's glorious nonetheless, and it's a genuine treat going to huffington post and seeing articles titled simply "WTF FBI". Those partisan shits, I hope they enjoy what they have wrought, for hillary was a complete trash candidate and we all knew it. Should have stuck with bernie you dumb pricks.

I do hope trump wins because the only person in the country who could lose an election to trump was the very one the left nominated, because they are morally bankrupt and thoroughly corrupt. The FBI reopening a criminal investigation into a candidate 11 days pre-election is one of the most fantastic October surprises ever. Probably the best one ever.

Good job, dems. You could have nominated Bernie, but nope you sold out and this is what you get.

Comey crossed the line when he did his press conference and testified on the case in Congress, which was the original sin. He wanted to look impartial, but making that exception specifically for the Clinton case is anything but impartial. If he refused to comment from the beginning, as he should have done, and as happens for pretty much all cases, he would not be on the hook for commenting when new information arises. He decided to make an exception for Clinton investigation, and now he is stuck basically doing something that is the opposite of what FBI should be doing, spreading findings that even his own agency hasn't looked into yet, and thus interfering in the election. Now he is damned whatever he does, but that was his decision to go down this road. He can no longer function as an FBI director. The only way out for him is to accept responsibility and resign.

The clintons along with the rest of the country are pretty used to the right wing accusing them of whatever crap that never pans out. Some folks just aren't the type to learn a lesson.

This might be a hard one to think about but...what if--and please just stick with me on this--what if actually there is some really holy shit she is a major fucking criminal stuff in these emails?

My favorite thing here is when comey fucked us back in july the dems were all "ah you guys are poor losers sucked in by conspiracy theory" and now that he's opened this up again the dems are saying the same stuff the republicans did, that it's political, even now in articles referring to him as a republican, etc.

Comey showed us his soul on july and it was bad. He is an obama appointee who works for an obama appointee. The fact he reopened this is because there is some damning shit. And I think we all know it.

If there is "criminal stuff", his job is to prepare a case and give it to the prosecutors to press charges, not to say there may be something or not, we'll look into it later.

It's crucial to now vote for Democrat Congress people to provide checks and balances on Trump just in case he wins.
lols. Yeah, I'm going to vote for the same party that colluded to get hillary in against their own guidelines, that has rallied behind a corrupt politician who is not only corrupt but also quite incompetent. Never happening. hillary is the worst of wh

Well this isn't the first time he's told us.

I still feel he let her get off in july and she should already have been dealing with her criminal suit, so to me this is a great revelation today. Probably the very best part about this is that comey has said so little that the clinton campaign doesn't even know what to deny.

This was in the NYT Editorial picks in the comments of the main article from them on this and I think sums up my feelings on it nicely:

If Hillary Clinton had been forthright months ago, her email problem wouldn't have been an issue. But instead, Hillary Clinton acted like... Hillary Clinton. A career politician, not a public servant.

By the way she and her staff have consistently dodged the facts and avoided responsibility makes her handling of the issue just as important as the issue itself. How many organizations have had 5 staffers (including an IT employee) given federal immunity?

Hillary Clinton and the DNC pushed out the only decent human being in the Presidential race, Bernie Sanders. Her campaign manager called him a "doofus" and now they are counting on that doofus to help deliver his once-idealistic supporters (aka "basement" dwellers).

Maybe the "backward" Catholics, "needy Latinos", or "basket of deplorables" will come to her aid, instead.

It's no small wonder many voters feel Mrs. Clinton is also damaged goods and even if she wins, her stature will be compromised by these unending revelations.

This is so unfair ! Hillary is so awesome and obviously our best choice for President. We as a country need to come together and just ignore the crimes she's committed or had her staff commit, some leaders should just be above the laws of this country.

Damn straight.

I want a republican to take office, but I would have taken bernie over hillary any day because he legitimately gives a shit, appears to really care about people, and the fact everyone in Washington seemed to dislike him is exactly why I respected him; he's not a corporate slave on his knees. The democratic party did all they could to undermine him, including corroboration at the highest level of the DNC to ruin his campaign. My faith in the american people is so low I still expect them to elect clinton, a vile corrupt politician, but on the off chance she loses, the DNC and all the democratic elite have themselves to blame.

Just as the republicans were retarded to put trump as their nominee, so were the democrats. Had bernie been their nominee he'd be crushing trump in the polls right now. Instead clinton with yet more of her crap is in the news.
