To think I spent a couple of hours of hit and miss trying to wire tiny cpu pins together to get my Tualatin to work on my MSI board--finally got it, but I'd much rather have spent $10.

Great find.

What are the CPUs you can use with this thing? (speed and FSB?) If I can upgrade my poor 933 machine on the cheap, I might do it, but I won't give up the 133 MHz FSB. A friend did something like this, but was going up from 66 MHz FSB to 100 MHz. It's not worth going down for a few hundred MHz CPU speed.

the adapters run at the fbs of the chip itself - there are no adjustments to be made on the adapter. I just put one in on an Asus CUSL-2, and I can run my CelT 1.1a @ 133fsb through the bios...

Nice. So what was the speed when you ran it at the FSB? 1.1GHz?? I need a faster option, as I'm already at 933 and can hit 1GHz.

Edit: I see at newegg a CelT 1.4 which runs on the 100MHz FSB. I wonder if it would o/c with 133MHz FSB?

Can anyone clue me in?

I've got an Abit BE-6 and a ZM-6 both with Celeron 566 Mhz CPUs overclocked to 850 Mhz. What is the fastest processor I can use with one of these or does it not help me at all? I've neglected my CPU reading for the last year or so.

Thanks

edit: the BE-6 does have a Slot-1<->Socket 370 adapter and the board itself is v1.0

the 1.1a ran at 11x133 = 1466. i was able to increase the voltage and fsb in the bios only...

These look like the ones at CompGeeks:

Here

I got one at CompGeeks. Works really well...even works on a slocket adapter.

This adapter will also modify voltage. The jumper settings are not documented, but I've managed to set it to different values from 1.3v all the way to 2.4v (!) just by trying different combinations.

I don't buy from Geeks anymore. When they mess up, it takes forever to get things right. Even worse was all the long distance calls I had to make to them to get my refund. BOOOOOO ComputerGeeks.com

I'm wondering the same thing.. I'd love to get a CelT 1.4 and run it at 4/3 * 1.4 (1.87GHz), or even a CelT 1.3 (1.73GHz). Anyone try this?

Hey, a question... I have a PIII 733 MHz running at 825 MHz (150 FSB) on an ASUS CUSL2 - is it worth it to upgrade via this converter to say Celeron 1.1A and try to get to 133 FSB? Is the gain marginal (MHz vs. FSB)? The computer is used for statistical analysis and database queries...

Thanks for the input!

i think it's VERY hard to o/c 1.4 or 1.3 tualatin. almost no way to do 133fsb.

better get a 1.1A or 1.2A to o/c.

Why do you say that? I'm not trying to disagree, just were wondering what exactly you had heard.. I checked on overclockers.com, and the average speed a 1.3T overclocked to was 1.65GHz. Granted, most people used some very elaborate cooling.. My setup is an Asus CUSL2, and I have an Alpha PEP66 I could use as well. If I've got a shot of getting a 1.3T up to 133MHz FSB, then I'm there. That system would fly..

some of these q were touched on in a similar thread, also with some useful info
there's another thread about the slot-1, but i'll have to get it later
i know the slot t(?) adapter works firsthand though, have installed two so far (mixed results, but they both work)

And is the 1.2 the same as the 1.2A ? I just see a 1.2 on newegg... ? Anyone know?

Cool.. from the looks of overclockers.com, the 1.2 can very easily go to 1.6. So $10 for the adapter, and $40 for the CPU and I can have a 1.6GHz Celeron w/ 256kb cache. Not too shabby.. Would probably beat the pants off my current p3/1GHz

if you can get 1.6ghz, it beats P4 2G.

I used to run C 1.1A @ 1.4G, and sandra shows it's same as (actually a little faster than) P4 2G .

Does anyone ahve benchmarks, etc., on these? I will be going from an old Cel 566@808 to a 1.1@ (Hopefully) 1.4 so...I think it will a decent increase (the FSB alone should be a nice boost). For 50$ I figure I cant beat it.

I wired up my CUBX for a Celly-T, 1.1A running at 1466. Sucker flies. I like the fact my BIOS says its a pentium2. Other weird thing was I had to jumper 133FSB w/ the dips on the board, couldn't use jumperless bios. Oh well. Cooling it w/ an Alpha PEP66.

That's the other thing...I have a Gorb...I'm wondering if that can handle it as that will DEFINITELY cause a serious price increase if I need another HSF...

Just get a retail Tualatin. If you do go OEM, you should be fine using a gorb, especially if you are not overclocking. I'm running my Tualatin 1.4 at 1.5, and it stay very cool.
