GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A contracted Grand Rapids Public Schools cafeteria worker who allegedly paid two fourth-graders to beat up a classmate now faces charges.
Police say 18-year-old Brooke Wilson-Johnson offered two Campus Elementary School students a total of $1 to beat up another fourth-grader.
"They took food off his plate and threw it. Pushed, pushed out of his chair, kicked, kicked on the ground," the boy's mother described. "My son said she just sat there and laughed."
Wilson-Johnson is being charged with two misdemeanors -- disorderly conduct and aiding and abetting delinquency.
The boy's mom, who 24 Hour News 8 is not identifying, said Monday she doesn't want Wilson-Johnson to ever work with kids again.
"I'm happy she's being charged," the boy's mother said. "I'm glad something is being done about it because at first nobody thought it was a big deal."
The record of the GRPS investigation into the incident states that the 9-year-old victim, a fourth-grader at Campus Elementary, called the former cafeteria worker an inappropriate name before any money changed hands.
The report also shows several witnesses said the suspect admitted to saying to the victim, "I'm going to pay someone to beat you up." Another employee stated the suspect was only kidding.
Wilson-Johnson was a contracted employee through West Michigan Janitorial Service. She lost her job after the incident.
"I just think it's quite ironic that you would do something like that to somebody else's child. I mean, how would you feel if I found some kids to smack your kid around?" the victim's mother said. "I just don't understand how a mother a soon to be mother could do something like that."
No one was home at Wilson-Johnson's residence and no one answered her phone Monday to comment.
The victim's mom says she's looking for a lawyer and may sue.
