Boooooooooooooo.... They could have spent a few more bucks on special effects and had some zombies actually dying. Come on, point blank stationary target, full auto in the face, and no one goes down?

I can't believe they couldn't rent a yacht in LA or just get permission to shoot a yacht from a distance in the ocean.

And come on... they had a bunch of Humvees on the base with .50s mounted. Would have made short work of everything at the gate. And no one is grenade spamming.

These. I'm watching it now and it stuck out immediately. Not ONE SINGLE WALKER was downed. I LOL'd. They would have done better with handguns.

Other stupid thing is that they all seem to have magically developed walker management skills despite being isolated and the particulars never having been explained to most characters. Everything from Salazar casually leading a wave of walkers to Strand insisting that "they're slow" and, thus, presumably safe to be around if you watch yourself. I thought we were going to get to see them figure this stuff out for the first time?!

TWD is going to be the new CSI

Walking Dead: LA
Walking Dead: Miami
Walking Dead: Omaha

I'd like to see David Caruso reprise Horatio Cane in TWD : Miami

It looked like the cheap CGI/effects from a bad Syfy made for TV movie like Sharknado.

I hate those people. The only reasonably sympathetic ones are dead now. Strand is the only interesting character left.

Strand is pretty cool. Kinda like the Devil was vacationing in a human body and got caught in the zombie apocalypse.

I mean Salazar basically screws over and sacrifices every single person from the neighborhood to the national guard infirmary/HQ to try to get his already dead wife back. Innocent neighbors, patients, medical staff and soldiers (stop demonizing them - they aren't all sociopaths). Basically zombie fodder for his plan. Dude is pure scum.

The people at the base weren't bad guys. They were actually trying to help as many people as they could. haha even the soldiers who jacked their car werent too bad. Its actually because of people like Salazar that humans wouldnt survive an apocalypse. Such a dick move. And they didnt even close the neighborhood gate when they left.

Yep. These people are leaving a trail of destruction in their wake just to get what they want. The safety of others, be damned! The three people they were going back for were A) Already out B) Already bit and C) Already dead. How many more people died?

Well they didn't know any of that though.

This show really sucks. And now their going to have 16, 1 minute webisodes that they're going to air during commercials of TWD - since everyone blows through all of the commercials except maybe part of the last one. Personally, I blow through them all and use the jump back button on the dvr remote.

Anyway, I know why the show sucks so bad - the writer is a dick. I saw him on Talking Dead which I watched for about 15 or 20 minutes before deleting it. They asked him some interesting questions and his response was something like, yeah we thought of that but "decided" against it.

Bullshit.

These are the kinds of assholes who think they have a sure thing and can do whatever the fuck they want and people will still lap it up. Well, I guess we'll see about that. Hopefully the Flight 462 arc will give us something more interesting than what we've seen so far. I'll take a look at them all at the end of the season once someone pastes them all together.

It was still fruitless. Well, actually, they probably caused the one that got bit to get bit, so it was worse than fruitless (counter-intuitive). Everyone would have had a better chance if they had done nothing.

So 1 person of the cast of Fear is going to be on TWD. I think it might be Tobias.

Got a source? That is on the other side of the US. I did hear where someone from the airplane webisode was going to be on FTWD next season though. It was mentioned on TD last night after FTWD.

First webisode thing for the airplane side plot thing here:
https://youtu.be/X832Ti_7WjA
That snarky "Please take your seats! If you're standing, we can't fly" attitude is so unlike anything you'd expect a professional to say. Then we see everyone on their cellphones, which means that they hadn't been told to turn them off yet, which also means that they hadn't been told that they were ready to take off yet. Nothing about that makes any sense. Also, they're still stowing luggage and the crew has not taken their seats. Treating airline crew like governmental authority figures who would try to hide what's going on outside your window is also silly. I LOL'd at the end when they covered the guy's window without even having asked anyone not to look or to avert their eyes or to close the cover or not to look out.

Someone is just copying tropes and applying them where they don't even fit.

Oh, and the call just had him asking the question his mom had already answered by text message. I know it was just a plot device so that she'd be on the line as the "grounding" thing gets out, but the least they could have done is used different canned lines for that.

Did they dub over the guy asking the attendant about the grounding? It seems like they intentionally didn't show his mouth. I got the impression that he's some Joe Blow who won a "be on The Walking Dead!" contest and couldn't handle the dialog himself.

No no no, man. The 3 soldiers with two M4s and one M240 (?) managed to take 3 or 4 down at the front of the pack after Salazar walked away. Less than 5, out of a dense pack of hundreds within throwing distance.

And what the hell kind of perimeter security allows two thousand zombies to walk right up to your front gate before you notice... And no one noticed the 2000 zombies slowing streaming out of the fully lit front stairwell of the stadium.

P.S. If they were too cheap to rent the yacht -- and blew it all on the helicopter shot instead -- they could have asked their props department to paint up an effing miniature/model...

It just really stands out because the targets are literally lined up and stationary with fully automatic weapons being fired from close range and yet there isn't a single body on the ground at the fence. Their special effects team probably thought, correctly, that the raw footage didn't look enough like they were shooting anything (because they actually weren't)... so they thought that adding the sparks where bullets happen to hit the chain link would be enough? Wouldn't it be easier and more convincing to have a few of the extras simply fall down?

SMH. The incompetence of these people. I mean, they actually have jobs in this business and yet they can't figure this stuff out?

It would have made more sense to have the fence collapse due to a wall of dead zombies pressing against it, and zombies walking up the dead bodies. Something like in World War Z, just over a longer period of time because these zombies are slow.

This is what happens when you have a successful franchise like TWD. There, you had, from the accounts I've heard anyway, a kickass story with great character development. So the tv writers at least had a solid template to start with. It's a little like using tracing paper to copy an image and then adding your own flourishes. Even if you suck as an artist, the end product is still going to be at least decent unless you really go out of your way to fuck it up.

But with a spin-off, unless the original series is finished, you have to come up with your own story and characters which are only as good as your writers. And if you hire people with no imagination or creativity, this is the sort of shit you get.

I checked the writing credits for the show and the first 2 Erickson and Kirkman don't seem to have any hit shows between them. Erickson wrote for Sons of Anarchy which was a decent enough show but it was the actors who made it worth watching, not the story. They kept using the formula of another big bad season after season until they drove their ratings into the ground.

So I'm going to classify both of these guys as hacks.

I'm going to guess at this point that they couldn't borrow anyone from the TWD special effects, make-up, or armory departments.

Let's not even talk about the fact that they were evacuating the base and had at least one CH47 -- probably armed with a .50 or two, maybe even a mini-gun -- hovering above that could have made the problem go away. And seriously? Big base, not a single MRAP or even a Bradley or M113 sitting around. Putting one of the many cars they had into drive and letting them auto-drift into the crowd would have helped...

That was just a really bad zombie horde scene that made no sense.

I'm going to take a competing position here and state that I am glad this opening season was only 6 episodes long. I don't feel super invested and obligated to keep watching, so I can relegate this to the bad memory pile and move on with what is hopefully a good TWD season.

Let's see - things that jumped out at me as just terribad:

1. As already mentioned, walkers that apparently can't be killed. Doesn't really increase your budget to make extra # 45 fall down and at least appear to be shot. We got at least 5 minutes of gratuitous machine gun fire from 5 feet away without seeing a single walker get shot. Absurd.

2. Salazar is now the Pied Piper of walkers? So they managed to cut the bolts and lead tens of thousands of walkers for what is presumably several miles? Umm, ok (I guess they did something similar in TWD, so whatever).

3. How the hell were there dozens of walkers inside the building within minutes of shit going down? I'm not even sure they were through the gate before we had dozens jamming up the hallways.

4. Andy showing up in the parking garage to exact his revenge was just lazy, cliched plot writing. Yes, we have to show Travis that he would regret his decision, as Salazar earlier foreshadowed. The entire scene was awkward/stupid and just pandered to the lowest common denominator.

5. I do like how the boat (Abigail) is a few miles offshore when they are looking through the telescope, yet is only a few hundred yards offshore during the final sweeping shot of the ocean. Speaking of that shot, I'm sure our director has some artistic purpose, but do I really need a tracking shot going offshore of a bunch of kelp for the final 15 seconds of the show?

Ughh this show sucked.

There are scenes in the show where they pretty much lay it out. In the looting scenes you can get the same feel. We fuck it up and actually help Zombies along. We are our own worst enemy.

lol at last saw the last episode
seriously they found a few thousands zombies and lead them to the camp to kill the all so they can save 3 people?

and of course they were the only ones that manage to get out.

and the scene that see that they burned the bodies
wow what they should have done??' there is a crisis and it is a bio hazard so burning the bodies makes sense. but if you are going to burn them immediately then why bother shoot them in the head??'

also the people in the stadium all turned lol zombies eat you only way to transform is bitten and survive. so how all the people in the stadium were turned??

the whole 6 episodes was a collection of scenes
1. lets put bad army checked
2. lets have soldier admit he was bad in the stadium check
3. person that survived from bad army checked
4. make suicide plan check
5. escape even surrounded check
6. bad army again steal car when they were so many vehicles in the garage to take and even army vehicles outside check
7. soldier was revenge shoots an innocent check
8. plan stupider than suicide go to desert check going to desert??? to do what?? and in 1 2 days when they run out of water they will do what??
9. after many days of disaster the people are still as if nothing happened check

there was no scenario it was la collection of scenes that made no sense and called it a series.

but the good guys killed how many in the camp which would have been evacuated??

I like the rich guy in this series, I'm interested in his back story, something makes me think that he has something to do with the outbreak though, like he's a CEO of a biotech firm.

I also like how there seems to be a little more common sense with this group, with the goal to make it to the boat, and also using the drainage system to get to the coast.

apart the fact that only the rich gay has a plan if things go bad
the rest have no plan at all

going to desert yes there will be no infected
but you know there will be no food water or house to enter
what common sense?????

they killed how many people to try to rescue 3????
military personal with gun and vehicles that if alive could support them in the future

and alive soldiers are also good because they know where are the bases to get supplies

stupidity yes
common sense no
