Wtf was Failawa doing in that room in the first place? Then he picks up the knife. YEAH, THAT'S GONNA LOOK GOOD WHEN THEY WAKE UP YA MONGOL (I don't think he wanted to hurt them).

I hate to say it, but this show is starting to grow on me a little bit. It isn't the best thing I've even seen, but the past few episodes have been good enough to keep me coming back. I am easily entertained though, so...

It's starting to look like we're just going to get retreads of plot points. The whole deal with keeping zombies as pets because 'they're not really dead' bullshit. We saw that with the Governor and in other instances like Morgan. This seems to be just another variation on the same theme.

The one interesting thing in the episode was why the old lady killed everyone with the poisoned eucharists. That didn't really make any sense. She seemed to say it was to protect them but then what about all of the people she left behind at the church - the group that attacked them when they came ashore?

But I'm not getting my hopes up. The writing is a little better than season 1 but so far, nothing we haven't see at least a dozen times on TWD.

As soon as they talked to the old lady, I told my GF "this is going to be like Hershel and the barn"... and sure enough. Ugh. Terrible writing, terrible acting, retread story lines.

Since I've watched all TWD and FTWD episodes, I guess I'm pretty much going to watch at least through this second season, but boy do they make it hard to watch. It's impossible to root for the "main" characters, you quickly end up rooting for the zombies to get them.

#1 - yeah, Hershel is immediately who came to mind

#2 - seriously. The only one I like is Nick, although his Emperor Palpatine hair kinda irks me

This is stupid, why do we have to wait...

Speaking of pointless and unnecessary waiting, wonder when the second half of Hell on Wheels' final season premieres.

Not really.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maersk_Alabama_hijacking

In this case three marksmen aboard a US Navy ship made three simultaneous headshots on three separate individuals who were inside of a lifeboat that was moving about in a greater swell that was seen in the show.

I have no doubt that any of those three men could have made that same shot as we saw on the show.

Laying prone on the USS Bainbridge getting the rhythm/timing of the sea to get the shot is a whole lot different than a dude in a rubber skiff going full throttle over swells popping off multiple single shot head-shots.

hollywood is hollywood.

I guess they decided to go full bore with the TWD barn comparison. Place goes up in flames, everyone has to leave etc. Pretty much a copy, pretty lazy writing in general. Travis just deciding to abandon his wife and other kids just to hang out with psycho boy..wtf? Common, that doesn't make any sense.

I thought it was pretty cool that the one lady locked Celia in the cage with the zombies, but the show didn't take advantage of a pretty powerful moment at all, they just kind of shrugged it off and moved on. Later when Daniel went in there to set the place alight, she was nowhere to be seen. I was expecting her to jump out at him or thwart his plan, or at the very least stand there as one of the zombies, but she wasn't there at all (unless I just missed it).

The last few minutes of the show also didn't make any sense to me, it seemed completely disjointed and illogical. The mob of people walking towards Strand in his truck, while hordes of zombies are coming from the other direction and the house is engulfed in flames. Seriously, the house is in flames and you're in great danger, and they gather in a group to walk towards the truck?? wtf.

I don't understand how they can manage to screw up such a good show premise with so many possible creative directions so badly....

Not only did they copy that part, they also copied the whole "I am seeing my dead wife" thing. Rick had a period of time when he was seeing his dead wife as well. I really think they needed an established comic book to work from. I don't think the writers here (including Kirkman) are capable of making a TV show from scratch.

Why was Travis barefoot?
You know, Celia may still be alive.
Strand was outside the wall and then suddenly inside with a truck? Or did that all take place outside the walls?
Alicia is the the only one anchored. She's the "Glen".

I think he went running after the idiot kid and ran through the garden etc, he didn't have shoes on when he started running. Not sure why though.

You know, Celia may still be alive.

I thought the same thing, since she wasn't with the zombies and she wasn't anywhere to be seen, she could have survived... not sure what the point of that would be though, the house is burned down anyway.

Strand was outside the wall and then suddenly inside with a truck? Or did that all take place outside the walls?

I think that was inside the wall. The implication was that once they dumped Strand on the outside, he had a plan and snuck back into the compound, stole the truck to try and get back to the boat. He couldn't have known about what Daniel was going to do, so I don't think he intended to save the mom or Alicia, but it just worked out that way.

Maybe we'll get lucky and most/all of the current crop of characters will get killed off and maybe we can get a new batch that are more interesting and better actors.

You're right, I had forgotten about that as well.

After having watched the first season and now the first half of this season, I'm inclined to agree. The writing is just incoherent, inconsistent and generally lousy, even with such a rich environment of options/directions.

At this point, it's not even worth criticizing the show. We all suspected that it was just a money grab based on the popularity of TWD and now they've shown us that's all it is. It had so much potential but no one was interested in doing anything different or unique. It's the Star Wars syndrome. You go with what works even when virtually everything you do is a blatant rip-off of the original.

I hope they make lots and lots of money from the show though. Then maybe they will become even more complacent and the writing will drop to sufficient depths that even the diehard junkie fans will give up on it. For myself, I'll continue to skip through the episodes with my fast forward button and watch the 10-15 minutes of actual plot so I have some idea of what's going on and can talk intelligently about the show.

Everyone was asleep when Strand shot Abigale, and he got up to investigate and Alicia told him Chris was in her room with a knife, and then he saw Chris running in the field and went after him. Not having shoes was an odd plot device. I'm not sure why it mattered, other than to slow him down so Chris could have time to take hostages.

What a weird episode. Daniel goes crazy and seemingly burns himself with the walkers which makes no sense. Nick decides he wants to live off by himself with walkers. And Chris Manawa is cool as usual. He is all like "they look at me like a monster". Well now they do. He didn't really have many problems until he had a knife in the girls room while they slept, took a little kid hostage, and tried to stab his dad. That will do it.
