Not really digging this show. Really bad writing and the flow of the show always seems disjointed. Close to probably giving it up.

Wrong thread, but yeah, Vanilla TWD starts season 7 in the fall. FTWD is middle of season 2 right now.

So what was the deal with the guy sacrificing himself? I know they explained it in passing but I missed it. I caught the explanation of the wider philosophy - the dead will leave to go to their rest and the world will be cleansed to start again, or something like that. But I didn't get the sacrifice to "the wall."

^Guy was sick and dying already. Instead of waiting to die, the village has a system where the dying sacrifice themselves so they become part of the wall and protect the living/village in death.

That's what I thought at first too - BUT: they get eaten. There's no body left for them to turn into a zombie...the zombies eat their flesh & just leave a carcass.

So basically it's just dumb.

Well, I assume that the zombies have to eat in order to remain active. We've seen what happens to zombies trapped for long period on TWD. They can barely move. They look and sound like me trying to make my coffee in the morning.

Looks like it's luck of the draw (or inconsistent writing) on how much you're eaten in this universe. Some get picked clean, some get back up.

For example, Deanna should have been eaten by a dozen zombies but she was caught strolling around the hood later.

Lorrie (Lorry?) was 100% eaten with nothing left by one zombie somehow.

Those gang members in Fear the Walking Dead last week got picked clean.

What bugs me is that they could have done every episode as good as last night (well, the finale really should have been an hour long & just cut down to the action parts, tbh). Thoughts:

1. Goodbye Chris. He needed to be dealt with somehow. My wife thought his dad was going to take care of him last episode, but knowing the writers, they aren't that risky with the story. imo it would have been better if Travis had put him down because yeah, maybe his son was confused at an impressionable age, but he killed that farmer point-blank with no regrets. That's not right. It's the dad's responsibility to remove his son from doing further harm because he's on the hook too for all of the murders his son commits by not stopping him, especially since there's no police or law to stop him.
2. Good man Travis. Everyone was complaining about how he was too harsh & the scene was too extended, but those kids were serial killers - including Travis' son. I felt like this was the first bit of good acting from Travis in the whole series, as well as a major character change.
3. Holy crap the eyeball scene. I think that is the goriest thing FTWD or TWD has every done. Dang!
4. Some powerful acting from Nick in the scene where he helped the leader get drugs. Despite his greasy old-man hair, he can pull off some good acting chops when called upon to do so.
5. Doesn't look like America is too friendly!

Pretty good season finale I thought. A little surprised Baby Manawa sucked the big one, but not that surprised. Even though Travis beating those two scumbags to death was brutal, I can't fault him much for it. People that like are a waste of oxygen and definitely aren't a positive force in society, so fuck em.

I don't remember why exactly Ofelia decided to steal that ruck and go off on her own. Looks like some redneck ass "THEY TOOK OUR JERBS" types got her and Nick-Luciana's group. Could be interesting to see what happens with these new people.

Some WTFing... Travis beat the two guys to death, knocked out the hotel guy when he interfered who then died. Because the hotel guy died, the hotel people talk about how that's so wrong and so they go to kill Travis...

Let me get this straight: you're going to kill Travis for justice cause he killed one of yours. But when Travis exacts justice on serial killers, you want to go get in his way then whine about it -- especially the hotel manager's son who would still be hostage/dead if it weren't for Madison.

And looks like some sort of militia group or military remnants to be dealt with next season.

Yeah, the writing in this show bugs me. From an action perspective, what he did makes sense...Travis' wife was trying to get in & needed help, and Travis eliminated any interference to his rampage, but story-wise...yeah, c'mon. Nobody liked the American kids. The hotel people didn't even want to let all the people in the gate that they did. You seriously want to get in the way of a man exacting revenge on the jerk guys who killed his son? Yeah okay...
