You also cannot find a single valid case where allowing a man to marry another man is a bad idea.

As per the CDC - men who have sex with men are 17 times more likely to develop anal cancer than heterosexual men.

If people who drank raw milk were 17 times more likely to get sick than people who drank pasteurized milk, the government would limit the sale of raw milk.

Guess what, the government limits and restricts the sale of raw milk.

Sugar increases your chances of heart disease by 400% says a new study I read this week. Sugar hasn't been banned.

Wait so does this mean there is icky gay sex going on again?

These judges need to hurry up and decide so it can either stop or carry on.

And historically government wasn't involved. POA can take care of most legality issues of government involvement.

historically most people lived in shit stacks and died of dysentery at the age of 32. what does that have to do with today?

so, lets see, you get this power of attorney, you go down to the local law office, you get some witnesses, everyone signs the power of attorney, you want it to be held out to the public so you file it with the county records, hey, that sounds an awful lot like a marriage certificate. which we already have for cheap, no need to pay some lawyer a couple hundred bucks an hour to draw one up for you.

Tobacco causes cancer - no ban on it's use.

It's limited (because others don't want smoke in their face), but not banned.

And, no one has gay sex in front of other people (like you would/could smoke a cigar),... so what is the issue?

What ever will the poor cows and goats and well... all the mommy animals do about that? Must be some Texas thing where humans drinking cow milk must be regulated... I think humans ought to stick to human milk, don't you? At least for the first few years of life seems reasonable and then switch to pepsi.

OP is conflicted and doesn't know how to deal with his feelings towards other men. I can't think for any other rational explanation for the OP's focus on this subject and supposed reaction to it.

Two things; first, this assumes that if two men get married, they're going to be engaging in anal sex regularly enough to cause an increase in the prevalence of anal cancer, which is not a given. Second, this assumes that if gay marriage is disallowed, the anal sex will not happen, which is an absurd assumption; we know anal sex happens outside of marriage frequently in the gay community. Sodomy laws have already been deemed unConstitutional, so your entire premise about banning an activity for health reasons has been shot down. What else you got?

Anal sex happens in heterosexual relationships as well. You want to install monitors to ensure it never happens or what is your point?

Usually public health laws trump civil rights.

Why does sex get excused when other harmful things are regulated and restricted?

Men having sex with men is not marriage. Allowing them to get married isn't going to change them from having sex. They are already doing that, married or not. Nice try though.

Also, anal sex increasing the risk of anal cancer relates to HPV infection. "Those who engage in anal intercourse with multiple partners are 17 times more likely to develop anal cancer than those who don't, if their insertive partners are infected with the HPV virus."

I can only imagine how incredibly infantile your brain must be to be stuck on homosexual relations.

If anal cancer is such a concern, we best be getting on that oral sex ban as 60% of all oral/throat cancers are caused by HPV.

oh, this is a mandatory vaccination thing. again.

Nope, I am not going there on vaccines.

Instead of vaccines I have been using the raw milk example.

If I want to buy and drink raw cows milk, and the sale is between consenting adults, what business does the government have interfering in my life? But yet the FDA shuts down people selling raw milk.

Gay men have the highest rates of HIV.

If public issues were treated equally, male gay sex would be outlawed, or at least regulated and restricted.

To sum up any THiker "I'm struggling with my sexuality and over-compensating by appearing staunchly anti-gay on the internet" thread:

-Gay sex is like heroin

-Gay sex is like beastiality

-Gay sex is like pedophilia

-Gay sex is like drinking raw milk

The list could go on...and on...and on

I'm all for shit stacks dude. Anyways divorces cost a lot more than poa attorney and we wouldn't be having these debates right now so we could concentrate on more important issues as a nation.

Privacy - that's why.

Just as you don't want the government in your personal life, then the government will not be involved in the personal lives of a homosexual.

This is the one thing that bites conservatives in the ass (pun intended); they persecute the privacy of people they don't like - but, throw a shit fit when their own privacy is questioned (what they do with on their property is their own business, etc.).

Don't bother with logic; TH is incapable of processing a valid argument.

None. OK, your turn: If you want to marry a man, and the marriage is between consenting adults, what business does the government have interfering in your life?

You are comparing listeria which has a mortality rate of over 30%, to anal cancer, which has a mortality rate that is much lower. Not only that your statistics don't say what you say they say as pointed out above. And frankly your stats which rely on HPV also apply to straight men and women. If people sleep with people with HPV they are more likely to get certain types of cancers, period. Straight or gay, doesn't matter.

Apparently the government things it can tell people what they can do with their bodies,

Do we have a right to decide for our bodies or not? If someone wants to drink raw milk, or have gay sex, what right does the government have to say no?

HIV is pretty much 100% lethal. Last I heard you can not get HIV from cows milk.

The gay male community has the highest rates of HIV out of all demographics.
