"FedEx ground Residental delivery doesn't deliver on Mondays," I was told today by a Fedex CSR....

Had a package that, by FedEx's own website, was scheduled for delivery today.

Delivery was never attempted (someone was home all day.)

At 6:17PM EDT today the FedEx website lists the delivery as "Delivery not attempted, delivery rescheduled for next business day."

I call to just ask why there was no deliver attempt made and I get told that FedEx Ground to Residential addresses doesn't deliver on Mondays and the package was never scheduled for delivery today. This despite the fact I have the April, 10 delivery date staring me in the face on their website.

So I ask her, "So why, according to your tracking on your website, did it say '7:14 AM On FedEx vehicle for delivery', if it never was going to be delivered today?"

Nothing but silence from the CSR............and then the conection got broken.

Had to call back and speak to another CSR who transferred me to a manager who referred me to another manager who offered to send it out by whomever I preferred in the morning to assure I received the package..........and I told 'em UPS would be just fine as UPS is ALWAYS here by 10:30AM, unlike FedEx who cannot seem to ever deliver a package on its scheduled day to me.....not twice in 7 years. UPS, on the other hand, never misses a deliver date for me and always in the morning.

you also can NOT pick up fedex ground from the main hub.

Residential service runs Tuesday->Saturday, whereas regular ground runs Monday->Friday.

Why they can't work 6 days a week like the better service is beyond me...

That is something I have noticed. Fed Ex likes to rescheduale alot. It is ground, however, so nothing is guarenteed (and they tell you that). As a result, I just accept it.

Strange, I didn't know about this. However, if that is their policy, then I guess you factor it in when making a choice to use them. However, just like the OP, I would have to learn this the hard way (or read a thread about it on ATOT).

Regardless, if the OP's account of how his phone call went is honest, then the way he was treated is unacceptable. Not answering my question and hanging up on me would be enough for me to use another service in the future.

Yup. I hate UPS. I stopped using them a few years ago when I was walking by a truck making deliveries. The guy opened the back of the truck and about 10 packages fell out. He proceeded to just try and jam them into the back of the truck (the truck was so full that it was a wall of boxes when you opened the back).

Plus, everything is late.

It's all about who is better in your immediate area. All three major package delivery services (DHL, Fedex, UPS) have managed to miss target delivery dates. On the one occasion that Fedex couldn't find my place, they reschedule it, and it was delivered, the next business day. When DHL was unable to find my house, they upgraded it to Saturday delivery (since it wasn't scheduled to be transported on Saturday), and had it to my door by 8 am. When UPS was unable to find my house... I had to call them and literally draw them a map. :|

Aside from that... I think that Fedex>DHL>UPS>USPS in nearly all respects.

placed on a non home delivery truck

Apparently true--I have a package shipped (2-day express) on Thursday from ZZF. Fedex says it won't arrive until Tuesday. That's three business days including Monday, since 2-day express is available on Saturdays according to Fedex website.
