After reading the article it is common practice. This year is more than previous years though.

Yes, these people should have their guns impounded until a proper background check can be performed. If they pass, they get their guns back as the existing laws would imply. If they fail, they lose their guns and should be compensated as they never should've been allowed to buy said weapon(s) in the first place. This is just another example of big government doing what it does best - screw sh*t up.

A USA TODAY review found that the FBI issued more than 4,000 requests last year for agents from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives to retrieve guns from prohibited buyers.

But, nevertheless, I believe the GOP is generally fine with the current laws in place. Sure theres a few outliers who think anyone should own anything, but collectively they are for responsible gun ownership.

Im ok with this action as a 2A supporter. I dont view this as overreaching, but rather fixing a failed process and enforcement of laws already in place.

all records should be in it, and accurate

so that when you purchase a firearm, the wait takes minutes, no need for days.
states that dont submit their data need to lose funding, until they come up to speed.

Thanks I just want to be clear that my comment was directed at people like ivwshane. I freely admit that the current admin has issues, but making an infantile comment like ivy did does this discussion a huge disservice. Lack of proper enforcement of existing gun laws needs to be taken extremely seriously and SHOULDN'T be a partisan issue.
