Never good for anyone NOT to get, each human's organic progression to this place or that, and in any endeavor, is unique and theirs. Or, say, to assume cavalierly, that everyone is posed to be a gamer or like the same music. Cause if not, someone is always a mousesclick away from despotically trying to impose THEIR shoulds and oughts on others. That, is never, EVER a good thing.

Some things, I get clear on in one nano....others, not. i.e, I tested Vista in beta..... got its reality immediately. Later tried to stop a friend from buying a new lappy running it, he din listen, but that was HIS journey, he had to suffer to learn. It really is individual specific!!!

It's about chasing those data and earning the right level of clarity for YOU. Being discerning....takes focus and work!!! Same as all learning curves in all things. It's never about just going along, esp with this or that ostensible innovation or hot new SHOES.

Well.....despite its cryptic reality, I think I understand the generality you posted. I also disagree. Especially, given it is that. A broad brush generality. I know what is right for me, and how my process works in this and that.

There is nothing, in my view, laudable about being arbitrarily bold, nothing not laudable about being discerning....tho discernment can be rapid.

I am here, so that hopefully, others with more experience might help me get clear in this journey. I do not want to be pushed....that is never a good thing; I would never do that to any Other... I want to be educated.

If you're serious about an SSD, get a Samsung, Corsair Neutron (GTX? The one with the LAMD controller), Seagate, Plextor M5P, or Crucial M500.

Intel is also good, their SSDs with their own controllers were tops for reliability, but their recent SSDs all seem to be SandForce, and trust me, you don't want a SandForce SSD.

Much like the Plextor M5P, the cost difference, w/o sales, has tended to be low enough to make you go, "ah, hell, why not," even though you'll never actually notice it, when you're already looking at spending $200+ on storage.

Now.....for me, the distillation of the metric dense data you offer above....confirms WHY my unalloyed instinct to own more data (visceral not just cognitive) before I choose an SSD and go there....is JUSTIFIED.

As I always say, unfathomable via conventional means does not mean inaccessible.

I must now recover from my core crisis....cause it was traumatic.

Depending on how you configure your system you might only need 120/128GB SSD and can put non-essential programs, data, Internet downloads, etc on a HDD. I have a 128 Samsung 840 Pro and with Win7, Firefox, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and a few other programs, it's only 40% full. Everything else is on a WD 2TB HDD.

I install a backup drive in all my desktops. And via XXclone, their content is identical. Thing is, there is no useless or gratuitous anything in any of my drives, no glut....so they are all occupied to an atypically tiny degree, and the biggest ones are only 250 GBs.
