Fellow DCers, Pay It Forward

Continuing the precedent started here by Rudy Toody, this thread will be for things to give away to other fellow TeAm members who are actively engaged in DC. Not sale, not trade, just give. If any actual shipping costs need to be paid, that can be figured out via PM. Sound good? I'm going to start the ball rolling in the next post!

I have an extra motherboard and CPU that need to go to someone with a bigger electricity budget than me! An Intel G4400, and an Asus H110M-A/M.2. I'll ship free in the US, and help ship outside the US.

I will have something else to give away fairly soon, hopefully it will be more wanted than the above parts.

Looks tempting ... but needs secondary investment: RAM, PSU, case .... have all the other components ...

That's true. The only RAM I have available is a few assorted sticks of DDR3, which will not work in this board. I wish I had complete systems to give away, but then again, the added weight and size of PSU and case would likely make shipping your way prohibitive. I do have the PSU and case this board was used with, though.

No, it is not reasonable for me just now ... I am getting a GTX980Ti and will remove my weakest GPU and then my ppd in F@H will increase by approx 700K - 800K and that i swell enough - for now.

I wouldn't have a problem with that, I could spare one of my 8GB sticks from my main system and I have an extra PSU. But I would want to wait until I can also get another GPU as I only have one. Trying to haggle a 7990 as I type this.

@indydude345 , you are at the back of the line at the moment, having recently been the recipient of a complete free mini-ITX system.

So, I can't even give this stuff away? It's not even that old. What if I threw in a stick of RAM?

Very interesting offer but I'm afraid I can't afford that because my hobby savings was already wasted on December sales. How about having a single DDR4 stick and let it runs BOINC project on igpu like Tony did?

I simply have too many computers at this point. The focus in 2018 is to try to move toward more efficiency by moving toward higher core counts and newer platforms. Maybe I will just upgrade one of my Haswell systems with this by selling the G4400 and buying an i7. That takes money, though. ha.

Hey guys, its not much but I have a free Sapphire 5870 Radeon GPU, Hemlock chip, I will ship for free to a fellow DCer. It runs Milkyway tasks around 2-3 minutes per single task on W7. Other GPU projects I did not have much luck with, but at the same time didnt play around with it. It came to me from @crashtech a year or so ago so all its done is crunch MW.

I have a PNY GTX 1080 founders edition that I bought used, but before I could install my PSU quit. The replacement PSU doesn't have enough oomph. So this has to go to a good home.

I'll give it a good home, and I'll even give it it's own air-conditioned room.

The blower fans work a bit hard here in the south, but someone from Colorado....who also is very interested in mathematical computations.....
... Is a little late and isn't all that interested in a 1080. I'm not sure my PSU has enough oomph either.

I'm going to have an extra ATX mid-tower case that I would be willing to send out, Fractal Design Focus G. Acrylic window broke so its basically an open air case now, pretty good for DC. Got me a Phanteks P400TG because it's pretty.

Checking interest before I proceed: I have a Gigabyte H81M-DS2V and Xeon E3-1240 v3 with 8GB DDR3, currently crunching away. Could anybody use these parts as the basis for a DC system?

Edit: These parts are going to petrusbroder!

Yes, absolutely. The only problem may be shipping, but I will pay for that ... If you would consider this, PM me please.

I have some spare RAM modules:

2 DIMMs of 4 GB each, DDR4-2133 CL14
  • Kingston HyperX, HX421C14FBK2/8
  • used for a short time before I replaced them by higher capacity modules; i.e. they worked for me and I probably checked with memtest86 too, but don't remember how extensively I tested
6 DIMMs 4 DIMMs of 4 GB each, DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600) CL9
  • Kingston ValueRAM unregistered ECC
  • also works in non-ECC boards, but does not work in boards which require registered RAM
  • never used; bought a while ago together with more modules of this type when I upgraded several PCs in a row; some PCs were then left out due to software licensing inconveniences — IOW I never tested these 6 sticks for being error-free, but all other sticks of the same type that I bought at the time were fine
  • originally as 2 kits of 3 modules each: KVR1333D3E9SK3/12G,
but I can of course rip these kits apart and send in the quantity that is desired
    now 2×2 modules left
And then there are also 4 DIMMs of 2 GB modules, DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) CL5, unregistered ECC. But I would be surprised if people still operate DDR2 based crunching rigs.

I ship from the EU.

edit, March 4:
2 DIMMs went onto a flight towards the rising sun.
