Fellow ladies- Waxing question

Everytime I get my eyebrows waxed they get really red and swell. Nothing has ever irritated my skin except for this. Does anyone else go through this, and if you do, what do you use to reduce the red and swelling?

hmm, i would recommend switching from Carnuba Wax to something a little less abrasive...maybe try those scented candles?

It gets red and swells because you just yanked hair out of your skin. The salon I go to puts soothing lotion on it, but it doesn't really help. Nothing will really help. Maybe put some ice on it to help reduce swelling, but your skin is injured and will stay red for a few hours.

I know should be red and swell a little, but mine swells at least double of anyone elses I have seen. People think I got the hell beat out of me, or they ask me why I have been crying. Girlfriday always laughs at me~!

maybe you are allergic to what the salon uses. go some where else and see what happens.

I waxed once. Only once. Being hairless longer than a week is simply not worth the pain.

As odd as it sounds, have you tried dabbing a little Visine on it? It works great at removing redness and irritation from blemishes, maybe it'll work on your eyebrow area. And ditto what FettsBabe said - maybe it's the wax giving you an unusual reaction.

Seriously, ice afterwards is probably your best bet for reducing the swelling. Have you ever thought about one of those "Ronco" electrolysis machines?

this always happens to me too.. that's why I only wax on Sunday mornings so the redness is gone by Monday. The salon that I go to puts hydrocortisone creame on my brows which really seems to help. Any sort of an anti-inflammatory creame should help a lot.

I tried changing salons thinking I was allergic to the type of, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I think the redness is the result of ripping the hairs out by their roots!

has anybody tried that epilstop cream that's advertised on tv? I almost lose my last meal everytime I see them wiping the hair of some guy's back, but it sure looks like it works...

Fortunately I don't have to wax, but once in a while I decide to pluck a stray hair and it HURTS LIKE HELL! :Q Honestly, though, I'd stop the waxing and start plucking. That's a very sensitive area, and one you do not want to expose to any sort of chemicals. I have honestly read that to reduce facial swelling you can use Preparation H. But I am pretty sure you need to keep it FAR from your eyes, and I would not feel excited about putting hemorrhoid cream on my face

Ahh.... One of those fortunate girls that don't require waxing? Or, are you one of the girls that go to an In-n-Out and order their burgers Animal style?

A lot of girls I know pluck because they don't want wax in the area.

I kinda know where you're coming from. I had to go through several wax jobs... Don't ask!!!

You could try some aspirin. It's an anti-inflammatory, and it should reduce the soreness as well.
