Having been enrolled in America's top 2 Art schools (according to princeton review/other sources) as a fine arts major, why does it seem like female art majors (especially painting/sculpting) are more or less... talentless? Always placing lowest in school/state/national-wide competitions, being rejected the most once applied to galleries, receiving the most criticism in classes, and generally having poor conceptual ideas.
Do not get me wrong, I've come across the occasional "gem" in my courses, but these individuals are few and far between (read: understatement). And it's not like the gender has an unpopular representation in this major, Fine Arts has been experiencing the largest surge in the female demographic in decades. I would say that in my personal experience, there are more ladies in my courses than males.
Has anybody else noticed this?
Disclaimer: Though I've requested a change to my username due to flaming received, please don't assume blind misogyny. Clearly, it's a play on the "Yahtzee" and is a gaming media reference.
