Why? This confuses me. Any chess players out there that can explain this? Why is there a league just for females?

When I was in chess club, which was dominated by males, my sweet and feminine disposition allowed me to happily surrender to any man that asked me to. I should have been allowed into female chess club, where like-minded and courteous players such as myself would provide fair competition.

Serious answer: For whatever reason, the strongest women chess players just aren't as strong as the guys. It could be because fewer women play chess, or it could be that whatever cognative ability makes for a strong chess player is more of a male ability.

I dunno. In chess the king is important but weak and the queen is his most powerful defender. She's far more powerful than the king in terms of her abilities in the game. Seems like a pretty evolved idea of gender roles to me.

Having been a chess player since age 6, and having played a number of games with the opposite sex, this is a very easy question to answer. The female mind just does not function the same way. Whereas there might be a few good female chess players, you will find that these few women were chess trained from a very early age. With lots of practice from an early age, you can change their mindset.

I've also found out that if you give one of these women chess players a female dominated type game, they will not do good at it.
