My in-laws are having their service set up this Sunday. I can't wait to check it out! It's not available on my street but I'm moving in a month and it's available at the new place!!!!! Hopefully WinFirst will still be in business next month!!!! hehe. Check out WinFirst . They also provide tv and phone services.

Hmm... I see that Seattle is one of the cities they have a franchise for. I hope it comes here soon...

Zero, please keep us (or me) up-to-date on this deal. That's the same price I'm paying for DSL at this time.
The info. on their website is not complete. I was wondering what their price structure on the bundle(s)
was/were? I've email them already and am awaiting a response. I would glad to share their response
if people are interested.

that's affirmative... i do hope they come soon. even if i don't switch, it's always good to have competition (lower prices)

Yeah, the website is definately incomplete.....no price structures whatsoever. The best thing to do would be to call them. They're available 24hours a day and you actually get a person on the phone. My in-laws are getting the package deal....Data, voice, and video for about $110 or $120 per month. The data is 49, voice is 25, and the rest must be the digital cable. I'll check it out at my in-laws this weekend and report back with some info on the service.

man they really need to come to the bay area... pacbell is the most inconsiderate bunch of hooligans we've ever had the misery of dealing with, and @home cable modem is on the verge of collapsing. we need to get these people here so they can give pacbell a run for their money.

Both my mom and dad (separated) got this service about a month ago. Whenever I go over there I check it out. It's very good. Haven't checked ping times or upload speeds, but downloads are the promised 10mbit if you connect to a good server. Customer service is also exellent and when you call with tech questions there's no wait or anything.

Also, you can elect to have them supply your Phone lines and cable TV. Both are great deals (with the phone you get like 100, 500, 1000? minutes statewide long distance for free every month). The TV is great... they offer something like 290 channels. The total bill with EVERYTHING (my mom got the works) is $146 a month for her I believe. My dad didn't get the phone and only got some premium cable channels and he pays like $91. When signing up, they have extra deals if you buy more. Like since my mom got the works she also got a lot of discounts on the price which brought it down.

It's definitely a great deal. Too bad my wife and I just moved into apartments, apparently they're not hooking apartments up just yet =(

zero: you lucky bastard... hehe j/k good for you. give us an update on how the service is..

now that is broadband.. not what at&t/comcast is offering... 1.5Mbps and they're thinking about charging more for us "power users" that download alot.. lame if you ask me.

wonder if this will ever be available in fremont,ca. would definately switch over if it happened.. i do recall workers laying down some cabling along a main street near my house.. wonder if it's fiber optic.. *please let it be*

edit: i recall someone else mentioning something similar to this in another thread.. can someone jog my memory on the name of the company? i believe it was out of state for me though.

Well if this service expands soon to other areas/cities, I won't have to go to anymore LAN parties! Heh. At 10mb we're talkin decent LAN speeds. I wonder when 100mb service will be available? Hmmm....

I hope they expand to other areas of sac soon, I also hope that they have good NGs, otherwise what are you gonna do with all that speed? Yeah the 1.5 cap socks but at least they are not putting a 3 gb limited on teh NGs, yet.

HOTT stuff...
argh, cable modem sucks for us right now, and COX(exactly what they are)/Comcast is making life much harder.
They need to run some fiber optics through Orange County!

So Zero, how is the service? Update us when you get a chance. I live in San Diego and I am ALL OVER this if it delivers what it says.

Ok.......it's the shiznit!!!!! Downloads are phenomenal! I was doing downloads averaging 500kb downloads from microsoft. Peaking at 800kb and as low as 400mb. it was crazy! I was gonna try bandwidth test at sites like www.dslreports.com but it was off the charts and couldn't give the actual results.....couldn't calculate or something. It's definately fast. The only thing that is limiting speed are the webservers themselves.
