FIC AZ11 Motherboard plus any $20 item for $43.90 shipped

I just bought the Diamond Home Free USB Phoneline Network Kit and the FIC AZ11 mobo for $43.85 shipped from Overstock with the $20 off $60 coupon. The mobo was $39.95 and the network kit was $19.95. I think it's a great deal. What do you think?

if you were a fan of the Andara barebones kits, you could make your own "kit" using this board, the Andara case with 300w power supply, even an elcheapo S3 AGP vid card, all for $90 from Overstock... just a thought... and yes, I know the S3 is a pretty weak vid card, but if you've only got $90 to spend for a case, motherboard, and vid card, then you aren't getting a GeForce 3 or Radeon....

I've built 3 computers with these socket A boards. Two with the AZ11 and one with the AZ11E. All have been running around a year. Decent, solid motherboard. Not a jumperless board and no o/cing, at least with the AZ11. AZ11 takes up to 1100 MHz Athlon anf the AZ11E can take a 1300 MHz Athlon.

i have one, and have also built 2 other comps with it. hat a little problem with the bios when updateing the logo. but the next bios revision fixed that problem. the tech support is a bit flakey, but the board out of box is nice. solid, and not much $. would recomend it. (i have used the az11, and az11e)

for that price, go for it. put a duron in that for like $25, and thats a cheap system!

Several things regarding the AZ11...

1) It has the VIA 686B Southbridge VS. Sound Blaster Live problem, so make sure your running the most up to day 4in1 (v4.37 or so)or the Driver that comew with XP (v4.31)

2) If you can get the AZ11E for a little more do it. Its updated and runs smoother.

3) You may have to manually set the clock speed using the jumpers on the board, as automatic didn't seem to work for me, in order for it to boot your processor. Mine wouldn't even post when it was set to automatic.

4) On the same note as #3, when I manually set the voltage (according to amd's specs) mine wouldn't post. Voltage needed to be left on automatic, and according to the bios ran at a higher voltage than it should have... But after a year everything is still ok.

5) This is a decent overclocker board if your running an Athlon 800 or less. You could use the jumpers and pump up the performance very easily.

All in all an ok deal for a middle of the road mother board. I'm running an AZ11E and with the updated 4in1's I'm pretty happy.

My own research just paid off... turns out the AZ31 is improperly labeled, it should be 'AE31' and the difference is it is a MicroATX design.

Just took the plunge with the FIC AZ11 and the Andara case... it's going to be a little Duron computer for my net-surfing only grandmother. I'll put an old 256MB PC133 stick in there and get Win2K so she doesn't panic with a crash and I think we're good to go.

Probably because he can get a 300w PS vs 250 and add the $14 floppy (or use one he has laying around) at overstock, use the 20 off 60 coupon, and only pay $3.95 shipping for a total of $87 shipped vs the ~$100 shipped from centrix (after shipping cost of hefty $17 or so).
