After using FICs very buggy and poor performing AMD 750 and VIA 133A based motherboards, I have lost faith in FIC. Perhaps their quality has improved since then, but I'll have to read a few reviews and hear from others before passing judgement on this board.
Wasn't the KT266 supposed to support pc133 and pc1600/2100 on the same board? This board only looks like it supports ddr, based on the look on the memory modules. Anybody know what chipset I am talking about?
The AMD 760 chipset ONLY supports DDR. The VIA KT266 supports both SDR and DDR RAM, however, manufacturers can choose to include only DDR or SDR sockets.
I recently built a budget machine and used the FIC AZ11E motherboard with a duron 700. It runs great and have had no complaints from the person I made it for.
If your looking for a low cost machine I would go with FIC, but anything for my personal use or a power machine, I would go with Asus or Abit.
Not to spread rumors but initial engineering samples of KT266 vs AMD761 show AMD winning. That might be part of the delay. AMD no doubt wants the KT266 to be as good as it can be. If I find the test I'll post it. If not, flame for rumour mongering.
I find that hard to believe since the KT266 uses a new north bridge <--> south bridge system that should speed up transfers quite a bit. Of course, you can never be certain.
