I just paid 14.95 for this a few days ago and now I just got an email saying they're selling it for $1.95 as a special promotion. It is awesome software I use to hide stuff I don't want my mom to find (I bet you guys can guess what that is). It works with any file on any OS. It's painfully easy also.
They just sent me an email with this promotion code to buy a second copy. I thought it would only work once but I had 3 friends use it already. It's called Padlock Pro.

I put a link on my website.
Go here to get the promo code.
Go here to buy the software.

Enjoy,
Dave

This program is decent I guess...I wanted to try getting an encryption program but the process involved makes it kind of redundant. You take your file and you make into another file using padlock. If you want to open the file, you have to go to padlock and enter the password and decrypt. IMO not worth the effort for encryption, maybe I'm wrong though, its my first time using this kind of software.

Ya, it is a little more cumbersome than I would have liked. They need to add it to the windows context menu. I don't know how it would work without a password though. The cool thing I liked about it is I can encrypt files and send em to my friends and they can decrypt them for free. Padlock Pfo have a free decrypter so you can send encrypted files to as many people as you want.

The main thing is my friends and I all send emails around and we don't know to what level our parents are monitoring our emails so I encrypt our files and messages before we send em.

I tried truecrypt last night and its too complicated. For $2 I think I'll stay with Padlock. Maybe not for $15.

This kind of message isn't helpful. If you have a point to make try to be logical, not emotional and demeaning.

I couldn't find information on the algorithms or anything used by padlockpro. Gnu Privacy Guard is free and works with just about everything (I used to use it work Outlook).

There is something called EFS in Windows XP Pro which uses AES-256 encryption. Guess what? It's free!

Windows 2000 and XP have built in file encryption for free. Just be sure to make a backup of your key or else your data will be gone forever if you lose it!

This is cool. I tried this the other night. It is easy like padlock pro but has context menus!
The problem with the Windows Encryption out of the box is it still doesnt solve how I encrypt. I encrypt stuff and send it to my friends. The windows stuff just encrypts for that user's account.

No. Don't go read the manual. Truecrypt blows. And for the a**hole earlier, I'm not retarded, just lazy. Truecrypt has a 51 page manual! Screw that.
Use axcrypt or padlock pro. They're both very easy. Axcrypt docs are less than 5 pages and padlock pro is about 3 paragraphs.

I figured Truecrypt out in about 10 minutes. And forgive me if I don't take my advice on what "blows" from someone who advocates an encryption program that gives no details at all about the algorithm it uses.

Here's some friendly advice from someone who's field is information assurance. Never, ever, ever, ever, use an encryption program that doesn't at the very least tell you exactly what algorithms it uses. It could use AES-256 in CBC mode with SHA-256 or it could use XOR. How can you say the product is secure or not if you don't know what algorithms it uses? Open source is even better, but at the very least I need to know what algorithms are being used. Don't buy a product that doesn't tell you.
