Final Decision: please help! Radeon 8500LE or Geforce 4 TI4200 (Gainward) XP or P4?

hey guys, this is will be the final because i plan on ordering the parts tommorrow night!...

I i have 2 setups basically... right now...

either the cheaper AMD:

AMD XP 1600 - $67.00 @ newegg (overclock to 2100/2200 speed)

MSI KT3 ULTRA (MS-6380E-010) VIA KT333 DDR ATA133 SocketA - $77.00 or EPox 8k3A around same price

or the ABit KG7 for 40$ at compgeeks! it will turn this into a real cheap comp!

Samsung Original DDR333 PC-2700 512mb CAS2.5 - $152.00

Intel setup:

Intel Pentium 4 1.6A GHz 512K Socket 478 Processor 400MHz Processor Bus $152.00

Epox Motherboard for Intel Processors, model EP-4G4a+ Retail $138.00

Samsung Original DDR333 PC-2700 512mb CAS2.5 - $152.00




I am doing this because, with the AMD it is more "lower end" and will be saving about $150 bux

Last thing is...with the Video card... I am thinking of either the ATI RADEON 8500LE from newegg for around $93.00
or with the compusa Gainward GF4 TI4200 $150.00 bux...Which card do you guys think is better/price?


for the AMD system... if to save more money i am willing to go with lower quality ram

I won't comment on the cpu choice... (Mostly because it's obvious what I'M going to recommend. )

But the Ti4200 is definitely worth the extra $50. Not so much that the Radeon isn't a good card, but the Ti4200 is better in every way (except VIVO), imho.

Check out Anand's UT2003 GPU Shootout if you need more convincing.

thanks. i think im leaning towards the geforce4 now also.. i will be able to check tomm at compusa.. make sure that gf4 ti4200 gainward has all the stuff i want

hmph.. AMD = 100bux for processor + mobo + some money for cooling

Intel = 290bux... for processor + mobo...

maybe..i will buy both................... muwahahahhahaha... just maybe =]

Btw, you can save nearly $25 by buying the EPoX 4G4A+ at MWave, or nearly $50 buy purchasing the 4G4A from MWave (same as 4G4A+ except no RAID or LAN).

Ti4200 for sure. If you didn't know, you'll probably be able to get that 1.6a to 2.4gigs easy with that set up, maybe more. Far more than you would get out of the XP. Kinda like a buy one get one free.....but different.
