Final Fantasy VI coming to PSN

When I played FF VI on an emulator, I programmed Sabin's blitzes so I could perform them with a single button. Perfect Bum Rush every time Cheating? Maybe.

The only other cheat I use is a Game Genie code that makes you have the Sprint Shoes effect at all times. I don't think you should have to waste a relic slot just for the convenience of moving faster.

on the SNES version i rarley if ever failed a blitz they were extreamly easy to pull off

also i never used characters they way they were designed. Sabin was the first person i learned Ultima on lol

I still have saves where i have every person maxed with everything. and a few i glitched with the sketch bug schimitars for evryone

I'm not sure I follow. Sabin's blitz's used the d-pad on the SNES controller.

PS3 dualshock has a d-pad as well.

How will that be more difficult to use?

Skimmed this thread, mostly to avoid possible spoilers. I've been waiting for the PSone Classic to hit PSN in the US, but what do you guys consider to be the best version of FF6?

Wii VC version of FF3 is now out.. How is this comparable to the PSone version (minus load times)?

What about the GBA version. I've read it's much easier, and has a cleaned up translation but the worst sound quality. Does the direct translation make a huge impact on the game overall? I've always enjoyed FF titles for the fantastic music, so this may be a deal breaker for me, but I'll consider it if the dialogue is much improved over the PSone or VC version

FF VI was definitely the most engaging of the series. The game was able to get you interested in at least 3 characters (Terra, Locke, Duncan at minimum), which I cannot say for any of the other ones. All of the other ones, you might only care about the main protagonist and all the other characters were expendible in terms of development.

I just finished up Chrono Trigger on the DS. I guess it's time to fire up either FF IV or VI next (have both on the DS). Any late breaking news on when VI will hit PSN in the US?

FF VI was never released on the DS. Did you mean FF VI Advanced? Or maybe a homebrew game?

After FF6 the series started using far to much cut scenes and bullshit charactors. Each FF after 7 got more cut scenes and more emo people.

9 was the best of the ones after 6 but i tend to agree with you

i enjoyed 10, it was new and different but my enjoyment for FF ended there X2 was crap, 12 was crap 14 was long boring crap

Very true. I want to play games with grown-up characters acting like grown-ups. I want a party leader who acts like a real leader. I want characters I can respect and love for their strengths, and be fascinated by their flaws. I'm sick of angsty androgynous teenagers with emotional problems. (To be fair, 9 and 12 weren't so bad in this department.)

Instead of drama, they can only write melodrama. Instead of complex, multi-dimensional characters, they can only write caricatures. Instead of believable, witty, nuanced conversations, they can only write cheesy "comic book" dialog. Instead of a deep plot, they keep everything intentionally obscure in order to create an illusion of depth.

I think it's very telling that people are more excited about the idea of an FFVII remake than anything new S-E could possibly create. Oh well, at least they keep re-releasing all the old classics.

The Anthology pack isn't on the PS2, its on PS1. The PS3 can't play PS1 games after the very first games to come out (think after FF VII). Sony copyright protection on the original playstation was such that the blu-ray laser on the PS3 can't read the discs at all. Pretty sure the Anthology discs will not play on PS3 at all. You will need a PS1 or a compatible PS2.

Also, Square Enix hasn't announced a US date yet. Basically it probably won't come out in the US, at least for now. If / when they announce a date, it will be well in advance of the release date

This is incredibly incorrect. A fully backwards compatible PS3 will play almost every single PS1 game, regardless of release date. FF Origins released way after 7 and it works fine. The only correct part of your post is that FF Anthology isn't backwards compatible .

I have the anthology pack and i play it on my PS3. in fact i just restarted (yet again) FFV1 because of this thread.

i have the original 60 gb PS3 which plays the ps2 and ps1 games. i dont think it will look good on a 57" tv.

Is there any reason you don't just play it with an emulator?

because its illegal. :\

If you have a PSP, they just release the After Years + original game "Complete Collection" compilation of FF4 recently.

Perhaps FF13 will start a new trend. Instead of the sequel being crap, maybe the first game is complete crap and the sequel will be great.
