Whoa. Screw FFXI, I already pay enough for MMOs - 59.99 for the HD is damned decent, though.

It's a good deal considering that it's usually $99, but in order to play final fantasy, you have to have a broadban connection, a ps2 keyboard (some regular usb keyboards are compatible) and you have to have a monthly subscription to the game which I think run about $12.99 a month. In addition, when you want to buy characters, I think it costs about a dollar. So unless you're into the FF Saga, I wouldn't recommend it since it is the only game that the PS2 has that really requires a HD

But there is a stand-alone game right? Like FF 1 - 10 that you can just play through and beat? That you dont need the internet for.

That is an awesome deal on this!! I never in a million years thought I'd get hooked on a MMORPG, but this game has me hooked big time! I'm still a lowly lvl 21 RDM/ 5 WHM

Can't you save your game memory to the hard drive instead of memory cards? That alone might be worth the hard drive.

Actually, I'm kind of curious if you can hook up the hdd to your computer instead.

Supposedly more games will start to come out that make use of the HDD. Gran Turismo 4 for one. Also FFX already has a function where it will cache itself to the hard drive to decrease load times.

Man, I hate it, I might get on this deal, even though I don't hardly play PS2, but I'm a whore for GT, and if it allows you to save music to the drive then I'd love it. Also, they've said you'll be able to download new cars and tracks for it as well. I might would even try FFXI. I'm sure my friend would probably like it, he loves FF games.

Went to two different Costcos in the San Diego area; had the guy search their database for the area at the second. He couldn't even find mention of the product to tell if it was out of stock. In other words, online-only, and dead.
