I really liked FFXI and am looking forward to this. I hated so much about that game but then also really loved other stuff. Best crafting system ever imo. I got so rich but I eventually had to stop levelling because I had no friends that played it. I will definitely play if they fix that.

I actually enjoyed camping the things that would spawn every 30-1hr. It was fun trying to get it first but anything longer than that is just too much.

ya those 24 hour spawns like argus was nuts. The sky triggers got nuts when the rmt crowd got there too.

Also, I gave up on FF back in the PS1 days. Afraid this will not bring me back. I got a PS2 just to play FFX-2 and 12, and Dragon Quest 8. Had loads of fun with Dragon Quest. Couldnt get in to either FF game.

Oh well, at least I have emulators.

Ok, I dug around and finally found something sorta useful. A media page with 99 pics of pre-rendered images that we will probably never see in the game, and one actual screen shot that looks alright. If this is as story driven as it claims to be, then maybe FF will come back to its roots.

This game will have to be completely different than the first for me to even give it a chance. 11 was way too much Korean MMO for my taste. I felt like I was playing Graal online with only marginally better graphics.

Cross platform both helped (sales) and hurt (communication, community) the game. I will not play it if it includes console gamers on the same servers - and for christs sake ditch the shard bs and call them what they are.

I actually did not mind having cross platform ... I LANNED with 4 people years ago, and we had a few ps2'ers with FF11, haha.

Good Party = Leveling up
Sh*t Party = Grind/Death

Leveling with a good party for 2 hours will easily earn you more exp than 8+ hours in a sh*t party.

From what ive read so far in on other sites. The game is gonna be a lot like ffxi. The party system was a love/hate thing. If you got in a good party then it wasn't bad at all. You could level up quickly. Leveling past 60 was painfully slow though.

Something else that would be nice too. They could make it so you could have a party of just 2 or 3 people. You really could never do that in ffxi cause u would get crap xp. If they just toned down the difficulty of the mob then it wouldn't be so hard. Solo grinding would be ok too but i still think party should be able to get more xp than solo.

You'd get more XP with a group of 6 than you would a group of 4, because they tacked on bonus XP percentages to make them the same.. add to the fact that you have 2 extra players and the bonus is compounded even more due to kill speed, etc. They promoted always having a full group even if one person was just AFK the entire time doing nothing.

vivi there are a bunch of people in my wow guild that have gotten alpha invites and are all excited about it. they keep posting about it on our forum, but the vids ive seen make it look so incredibly slow that i just don't think i could take it. I know they plan on speeding things up but it really looks like its just a better looking ff11 which isnt a good thing

I can understand that, what videos have you seen of FF14? I haven't seen a whole lot yet. Keep in mind, this is Alpha, another snippit from the email, stating what they're trying to accomplish in Alpha testing :

If they're planning on releasing it this year isn't it a little late to be calling it an alpha version? I guess nowadays with most 'betas' being demos maybe they wanted to make it distinct.

An official Benchmark came out today for this, it shows a lot of footage with the in game engine so I thought it was pretty cool. On 1920x1080 settings I got a score of 4796 and 14588ms loading time. Kind of a weird benchmark sing there are no FPS counters or anything except for a generic graph that doesn't show the actual FPS but the engine still looks really nice.
