I'm only posting this rant here cause I'm at work and want to get it off my chest...I'll make sure to pass my opinions on to Square-Enix later.
Something seems wrong with the fatigue system, or perhaps there is some other sp/exp limiting bug. Has anyone else noticed this? Here are my hrs played from Thurs - Sun, plus or minus a little: 2/4/5/5. Approx 16 total hours in 4 days -- that's a little more than I usually play per day, because I always put in longer hours with a new game. In that time, I've gotten physical lvl to 15; thaum/conj to 9/7; miner/bontanist to 7/7; goldsmith/carpenter/culinarian to 7/9/5. It's INCREDIBLY easy to level up using leves in these early levels once you know how. However, despite the fact that I've spread my efforts around so many classes, my Thaum is capped out currently with 300sp away from rank10. I couldn't gain any sp/exp with that class last night. Others in my LS have gotten capped out at rank11 (with only 12 physical) or even rank 8 on their main classes, though I've seen someone at rank 16 so far, so I know this doesn't happen to everyone.
Now, I haven't been a proponent or a naysayer of the fatigue system up til now, but this rubs me the wrong way. Sure, my problem is probably a bug that will get fixed, and they will probably continue to adjust the fatigue system as they get more feedback, but I'm feeling some sympathy for those who HAVE and WILL genuinely hit fatigue and are crying out about it.
On a weekday gaming session, I usually get to play about 1.5-2hrs, which usually occurs 2-3 times a week. On weekends, I generally play about 2-6hrs a day, depending on many things. I should normally have absolutely nothing to worry about with the FFXIV fatigue system, especially with my ADD tendency to switch classes. But as an ex-hardcore gamer, I'm still known to have a video game binge session occasionally if the stars have lined up correctly. I can just imagine a really fun group gaming session, where things are goin smoothly, everyone's on top of their game, people are cracking up and having a good time, and then someone hits cap and decides to leave. Even if they stay, they're gonna get a little (or a lot) cranky & bitter towards SE. But really...why should that be a possible downer in a game in which practically EVERYTHING you do is about leveling up (and grinding, depending how you look at it)? It doesn't even promote leveling other classes...it just potentially takes away any benefit from continuing to play how you want to play.
Booooo SE. Let people play. This artificial measure won't do anything to prevent people who play a lot from having an advantage in an RPG. As far as advantages go...same deal with the lack of an auction house. If an AH can be manipulated, so can the marketplace.
