Because people hate Apple, usually for no reason at all.

But lots of people on here wet themselves over the iPod, so I don't think it's just the brand.

I'm sure part of it is the fact that it is made by Apple. I think it stems from having to install another video player on their system which, after install, likes to play ALL video files. Plus the nag screen when you launch a QT video.

I still believe most people hate it because Apple's name is on it.

p3 500...soon to be p4 2500, and it doesnt render better on mine, but thats beside the point. i hate how they make you pay for basic features like full-screening a window. not to mention the ugly-ass mac interface. and that stupid mac taskbar icon that loads even when i disable it in msconfig. i hate it

it gets a bad rap cuz on pc's it uses far more resources then it should. when compared to a divx of equal quality, you can bet which one uses far less cpu. its not in apples interests to optimize their player.

and yes, paying for fullscreen? bogus.

um, what's the point?you can't take a video file and make it higher quality. he extra file size is just b.s. rendering that divx tried to do, but if you think your new video is any higher quality, it's all in your head.

The point would be being able to fullscreen it without having to pay for Quicktime Pro, etc. I don't care, since I've got QT Pro (and fullscreened it to TV-out to my HT yesterday), but I know others would want the Divx version.

I'm not ignorant enough to think that re-encoding something, without a better source, can improve the quality.

i just think this movie is going to be huge. the first one was almost a sleeper blockbuster in the box office, but the DVD version pretty much establlished dvd as a medium...i don't know, maybe its mostly wishful thinking!

At least on my machine, it uses fewer resources than WMP, because I have issues playing WMV files sometimes. Never have an issue with Quicktime.

Maybe I have a transvestite computer. *shrug*

Titanic should've been rated R, really. But then I think there's a lot of movies that should've outgrossed that piece of crap.

Looks like Saving Private Ryan, at $216 million, is the highest an R-rated movie has ever made it.

Someone already tried to Divx it, it ended up being a lot bigger. The file is at a much higher resolution than normal Divxs. I don't think anything could get that file down to 20MB without a loss of quality.

Yeah, that was me who divxed it... 134 MB on the highest quality my divx encoder could run at. I'm sure I could have optimized it a bit but there's no way divx could get it to 20 MB without a huge loss of quality.

It'd better, this is 10 times the movie Spiderman was. I'm going to do my part by seeing it 4 or 5 times over the weekend.

BTW, someone way earlier in the thread asked why the movie is being released on Thursday. It's a trick to boost their first weekend figures, because Thursday is counted for some reason. Lucas did this with the new Star Wars movies.

runs smooth on my xp 2000+ using ddr memory.

i just checked using task manager running on 2nd monitor. quicktime ate 93-97% of my cpu in full screen playback. wholly sh*t!!!!


notthat i'm complaining about the resolution though, all movie trailers should be like that

and have u tried playing divx of that resolution? doubt it, most divx are something like 400x300 or something near that. this is 1000x540.
