Theres nothing wrong with QuickTime. After reading thru this thread i notice a lot of ignorant people... I will try to help the ones that stuck out in my head.
As for the Q being in the taskbar... right click it, do properties and uncheck the box that says "Quick Time System Tray Icon" - DUH!
The 1000x540 version is choppy on my system as well. It is more processor dependent than anything. I am running a 1GHz Athlon with a GF4 Ti4200 128MB. The vid card is definately big enough, its my proc that is suxoring. 640x346 works for me for now ... but i still have the other file sitting on my HD But then again, what DivX file do you have that plays @ 1000x540 @ 5000 kbit/sec video??? This release is so frickin huge... i love that they released it at such a hugeass rez. I'm gonna divx it @ 1000 and play to see what the cpu utilization is on that.
<edit>ok, CPU on mine was hovering around 70%... not as bad as Quicktime, but still, up there </edit>
For "full screen" showing, u need QuickTime Pro... go get yerself a key[gen] - not like you havent done that with your DivX Pro
As for the person that DivX'd it and it came out at 134MB... WTF dude? how about turning some settings down... You should be able to match the QT filesize, or beat it by 20 meg or so and still look very similar. I did this with a guys cap of the Superbowl Trailer from ABC HDTV. The source quality is soooo much better than the downloadable version off the website. Got it at 22MB for one minute of 640x346. I'm gonna DivX/XviD the 1024 trailer to 640x480 and see what i come up with. I'm thinking i should be able to get it around 50 meg - with no real noticable difference in quality.
And for the guy that said it wouldnt make 100mil - hahahaha who are you kidding... yeah, its R, which will hurt, but this thing will definately make 300mil+. Its costing them 300M+ to make the both of them. The first Matrix took away 176M in box office in the US, and over 300M in total sales - not counting DVD or VHS. I must agree with the guy that said "this BETTER beat Spiderman".... cause that movie sucked so hardcore. This is soooo much better
This will definately be the Year of the Matrix. Two movies, a game, and the Animatrix shorts. Holy shiznit guys! Great marketing!!!
