Ok, I'll do this as calmly as possible:
July: Landlord (LL) flips outs and asks us to vacate the apartment.
See thread. NOTHING in writing given by LL (as reqd. by law).
August: Rent paid
September: Rent paid
September 30:
12:45am: Gf gives birth to Zara, our daughter by emergency c-section since she is way overdue and her contractions are plateuing out. I take 2 weeks vacation from work.
Oct. 1:
7pm:
Neighbour is taking care of my dogs
Dogs are tied up in front of my neighbour's apartment
Neighbour goes inside her apt. to get something
LL unties the dogs, leads them into an alleyway behind my apartment building and locks the gate
Neighbour comes out, SEES the LL lock up the dogs and confronts him & asks him to let the dogs out
LL ignores her and walks away
Neighbour calls me
I rush back from hosital
I call the cops
Cops enter the alleyway and free the dogs
Cops take down harrasment report
8pm:
I go into my apartment
Overpowering stench of urine
Piss inside baby swing, kitchen stove, dog food container
I call the cops
Different cops show up, refuse to take a report & tell me that I should just move + my LL can enter the apt. whenever he wants. I tell them that according to NY state law the LL has to give notice before entering my apt. Cops make it clear they will not be doing anything about the situation.
Oct 2:
LL is waiting for me outside the hospital
LL wants to make a deal
I tell him to F off
LL follows me for 2 blocks
I tell the LL that I'll be out at the end of the month - if he doesn't approach me or my family till that time
Oct 6:
Gf + newborn back from hospital into apt
Oct 10-14:
Loud music + old school telephone ringer from basement (acessible only to LL)
Numerous calls to 311
Not a single piece of mail
Cable / Internet dead - suspect that LL has messed with the cable box in the back of the building
Oct 14:
Doctors clear gf & newborn for travel
I buy tickets NYC --> Atlanta, departure Oct 17, for gf to stay with her mother until I find a new apt.
Oct 15:
2pm:
Gf sees mailman outside building
Gf goes outside with baby & tells the mailman to kindly bring the mail up to the apt. since the mail has been going missing recently
LL overhears this and cusses out my gf threatening to "fix", "set your s*** straight" and "f*** up" me, her and the baby - mailman is witness to the incident
Gf calls me & I tell her to call the cops
Cops get there & eventually take down a report
So ... that's what has happened so far. I'll be talking to a lawyer ASAP - should have done it a long time ago, but with a new baby - but yes, I should have still done it sooner.
I'm mad as hell & I just want to take a steel bat to the LL's face. But I have a family & I can't afford to break the law in any way - so I'll be 100% legit / legal / law-abiding thru this BS.
My gf will be in Atlanta by Friday - so I just have tommorrow to worry about. I'm still worried about my dogs - my only option is to get someone to drive them down to Atlanta ASAP. Already made a post on Craigslist ... and waiting to hear back from a mod here on AT on whether I can post a WTB Ride to Atlanta or not on FS/T

Part 1
Oct 17:
I got assaulted on Friday evening
I was packing and going in & out of the building to dump trash & junk
I opened my apt door & a big guy (5'10-5'11, 220-240lbs, large build) pulled me out by grabbing my shirt front. I saw a punch coming and was able to move my head just in time - so I got a glancing blow to the right side of my face (which gave me a red welt instead of a broken nose)
I punched him twice - the first one, left fist to his lip (effective) and a right fist to his stomach (missed, hit a rib/lower chest, ineffective)
He grappled me and wrestled me to the ground - his body weight on mine (I weigh 145lbs or so), which dislocated my right shoulder.
He got up, went (I want to say ran) for the building exit (10' away) - saying "Don't ever call the cops on no one again or I'll kill you"
I called 911 right away. They came along with an ambulance. Most of the cops were very helpful. I gave them as accurate a report as possible. The senior officer there (I notice he had a single stripe) said "I just don't see why someone tou don't know would do this - are you sure all this happened?" I guess he hadn't been listening closely to what I had to say before (mentioned all previous incidents with landlord including the verbal threats to my gf)
Notes:
Gf was already on Atlanta flight
Dogs were with my neighbor - pity, they would've helped

Part 2
Ambulance took me to the ER @ New York Methodist. Admitted at approx. 9pm. Long story short - the docs were able to put my shoulder back in at about 1:30am. Discharged at 4:45am.
Went home - my key would not open the apt. door. Something had been stuck inside the keyhole. Friend who was with me managed to climb in thru a window.
Spent the night in my apt with my friend - since then I have been forced to spend the night at my neighbor's, friends', cousins' homes - not that I'm scared, but it's hard to say no when friends & relatives start crying & telling you how worried they are.
I've moved out most of my stuff from the apt. into storage since the front door won't lock anymore.
This weekend I plan to go to Atlanta to drop off the dogs at my gf's mother's place - going to be quite a trip with a dislocated shoulder.

So ... more thoughts in a while, I'm at work - my boss is awesome - shoulder's driving me insane (trying to stay off pain killers)
