Dunno if anyone's mentioned it or not - but I'd take pictures of every square inch of the place before moving out, hopefully with a newspaper in some to show the date.

Had a landlord attempt to screw me once, but thankfully I had pictures that said otherwise. If my buddy hadn't mentioned that to me years ago, I woulda been out a lot of cash :/

What OP should do is buy a gun and hide out in his room. When the landlord breaks in to do more vandalism, shoot the 'intruder'.

Already been suggested, by me. Since he's in NYC, it's going to be really, really hard to get a gun. Better to hire a lawyer and try to get out. But try to get some form of evidence as well so you can really go after him.

as i said before, financial greed/desperation must be making the landlord do stupid things. even if you don't know who did it it seems fishy that the guy was behind the door when you came in (unless he was a burglar someone prob gave him the key), and locks were changed while you were in the hospital.

"coincidences" keep piling up. a pity you have be careful contacting the landlord since he could easily get you in trouble for threats.....=\

Wow that is really screwed up...

Make sure you make his life a living hell. Try to do it 100% legally so he can't even try to get you in trouble for it.


Though a few illegal/bad things that would still be fun to do:

1: cat litter or cement in ALL drains

2: loosen up all the screws in power receptacles, switches, light fixtures etc... Make sure they all work after (don't know for how long...)

3: Slighly nic all plumbing using a dremel or cutting tool, but ensure it does not leak... for now.

4: cut small holes in the walls or use existing ones to put something that smells really nasty behind. Cover any holes, retouch, etc... so it looks normal.

5: find a dead skunk on the road, leave it in the trash


Though I'd stick with ways you can't get in trouble, seems less rewarding at first but in the end it will be the most effective. Get him in jail.
