I disliked the game very much. Low max level and when you get to that level all the guys are easy to kill, lame main story which is too short, side-quests are not that fun, voice acting was TERRIBLE, graphics not that good at all and textures were extremely low quality, "dungeon design" was boring and lazy as everything looked pretty much the same, and ending was terrible. The freedom was the only redeeming aspect of the game.

why dont you tell us how you really feel

I hate boring ass games.

Fallout 3 ranked up there.

I played Fallout 2 like 3 times.

Fuck, Fallout 3 suckiness pisses me off. Bethesda pisses me off in general. They'll ruin anything.

Fallout 3 was a travesty to actual Fallout fans.

Bethesda made Morrowind which is awesome. Of course, Oblivion followed so I guess I see your point.

I kind of wish they'd remake Fallout 1 and 2 using the Fallout 3 engine. That could be fun.

No. That would suck balls.
What they need to do is remake Fallout 3 with the Fallout 1 and 2 engine.

I disagree. Maybe I'm just thinking about this with "everything was better back in the day" bias, but F1 and F2 had much better quests and storylines IMO. Too many quests in Fallout 3 were "go to this location, shoot your way in, retrieve this item."

And the characters also sucked ass? And there was shitty character customization? And story sucked ass?

Everything sucked ass in Fallout 3.

I admit the free roaming Elder Scrolls style was much appreciated, they should have just had a better world to roam around. Deeper characters and stuff to engage.

They REALLY need to invest more time/money into the voice acting. All voice acting in Oblivion and Fallout 3 was pretty weak.

I did enjoy the free roaming of both games though. Would be great if the world was 10x as big.

Liam neeson was a good dad i thought. It was a
shame when he died.

Yea cus his voice acting wasn't bad at all compared to 99% of everyone else in there. One of the things that really killed the game for me cus it just made none of it believable.

It was a post-apocalyptic world based on 50's sci-fi. I don't think it's supposed to be "believable".

I found it to be a fun world and a fun game. I played through it once with no DLC. I've played through it a second time and I've done all DLC except Broken Steel. It's probably my favorite game of the current gaming generation (based on console generations).

They intended the voice acting to detract from the game?

I think it took me 2 hrs to get past the fire ants in the first major town...

Otherwise, pretty awesome game. Although with the unlimited carrying ability hack and an unnamed super powerful partner, the game got too easy

The no weight limit hack was just to eliminate the monotony of going back and forth between the world and your room/hideouts to drop off items. Item management can be a bore (they got rid of it in Mass Effect 2 also).

The game became too easy once you partner up with that super mutant with the laser gatling gun.

Voice acting is definitely an issue in the Bethesda games. If Bethesda would get great voice acting like Bioware does their games would be so much more epic.

I just started playing this game on the PS3. Is it really hard to kill super mutants and scorpions, or am I doing something wrong?

If you just started playing, then yes it's going to be very tough to kill them.

Also, in the beginning, one of the most important things to learn is how to repair your weapon. You'll spend all your ammo killing one super mutant if all you have is a crappy almost broken rifle doing 3 damage per shot. Get some other rifles (or more duplicates of whatever your preferred weapon is) and repair your weapons to get better damage.

the world is big enough as it is, I think - I hit max level before I explored even 1/3 of the world. Even with the Broken Steel level cap I would probably still hit the cap before most of the world was explored. which was a damn shame, really, because I really enjoyed exploring, I just thought it was pointless if I wasn't getting any stronger.

VATS and head shot.
And even though you may be tempted, dont put many points into small arms early on. You will find laser pistols and rifles soon enough and then you will wish you had put assloads of points into energy weapons.
If you dont like VATS, good luck. The game is seriously tough without it. Take perks that increase your AP and your accuracy & damage in VATS. You should have put 9 points into Agility at the beginning of the game, and go for the Agility bobblehead ASAP.
Agility gives you more AP. And stockpile items that give you an AP bonus, like Jet.
Do the quest that has you turn Sugar Bombs into the Ghoul in exchange for Ultra Jet.

And as already suggested, join the Nexus Forums and download mods from FalloutNexus.com. One of them adds a quest that points to all the bobbleheads in the game. Some other rebalance combat if thats what you want.

Which, if any mods can you use on the PS3?

None

But yeah, VATS makes the game very easy. I too ignore small guns and go for energy weapons. It's also good to shoot the weapons out of the tougher enemies' hands (like the tri-lasers from Overlords). Takes quite a few shots to kill one and with a broken / no weapon they can't really hurt you. Use a dart gun for the fast enemies - their legs cripple and they move super slow then (easy targets in real time).

My favorite weapon is the Gauss Rifle. With a semi-decent character every hit is a crit = knockdown. Single enemies have absolutely no chance (from dogs to a Behemoth). Two enemies at once either. More? Just nuke 'em Or "gatling gun" their asses!

I do not think they need "great" voice actors, and especially do not need to waste money on celebrity actors (which they will do anyway). They just need to hire experienced directors who are gamers themselves and understand how players react to the talking heads within the game.

Of course, that being said, Ron Perlman is now a fallout trailer icon. Although they only have to pay him for a short 30 second or less monologue, and not for days or weeks of studio time. The cheaper labor would be supplying the NPC voices and their studio time would be at a fraction of the labor cost of a Patrick Stewart, for example.
