I was wondering about the reviews also. Does anyone here have experience with them?

It once took crucial 14 weeks to mail my rebate, good news is... With that rebate I got 14 weeks later, I went to ABC's and got a bottle of SoCo. Meh, rebates rule!

I meant with the quality of these specific sticks of ram, not their rebates. But it is nice to know that they did honor your rebate

There's a post about this ram in the system memory forum. The discussion there backs up what you see in the newegg reviews.

Too much tied up in the rebate for me. If the rebate was only for $20 or $30, with the same AR price, I might consider it.

Well, the OP's topic title does state "FINALLY CHEAP DDR!", perhaps he was referring to the quality?

EDIT: BTW, the price has dropped another $15. When I just checked it shows $102 - $70 MIR.

It's a great price, but... I'm not sure how good I'd feel about buying memory that most likely won't last more than a year. Sure, you can return it and return it over and over again, but what effect will all this memory failure have on the integrity of your data?

I might purchase a video card that I know isn't going to last long. When that died, it would probably just mess up what I'm seeing. But memory- that's far too integral.

$32.49 AR (plus $8 tax for me) is very nice, but I don't like a $70 MIR, and failing within a year is kinda... wtf?

For the sake of the deal.. before these started shipping faulty, doa etc, they were some of the top DDR ram.

if you are willing to risk having to go through RMA's and lots of ram testing, this could be an excellent deal on some good oc ram. otherwise wait for some firestix to go on sale again.

I agree, when I saw the failing posts today it really surprised me. Makes me wonder what happened.

I bought these when they first came to market and paid close to $200 for each stick, I still have these running in one of my machines going strong.

Great price for ddr.

I've been using a pair along with another pair of 512MB sticks and have had no problems. The issues posted about have generally referred to failures after a year or so and many attribute the problem to heat. I just added a Corsair fan unit for my memory and it has been running perfectly so far. Note, though, that Newegg/Crucial frequently sell the 1GB kit for less than 2x the 512MB price after rebate.

FYI ... I have this memory (4x512 MB) running in a Dell PowerEdge 400SC server being used daily as a desktop and it works flawlessly. No problems whatsoever, it is great budget RAM and works flawlessly.

Or just avoid crucial crap altogether

It's like buying an Antec power supply these days. They (Antec PSU's/Crucial RAM) were all good back in the day, but there are so many better alternatives now. They're old dogs.
