Sorry to add in another PSU, but I have been offered yet another deal. For 3/4th of a cost of the Seasonic/Liberty, I can get a slightly used Antec TrueControl II 550W PSU (used 1 year)...... not sure about Antec and their compatibility issues with DFI but I have another option to throw in here .. I know the OCZ is probably better (more $$) and it's brand new, but I just wanted to get some thoughts on the Antec....since everyone's saying ~500W is sufficient!

Yea I have the OCZ 600W SLi-Ready version, the 520W is no slacker at all, and is the most highly recommended PSU at dfi-street apparently. However, they are more on the pricey side, but great product nonetheless. If you can get it cheap, go for it, it'll handle your rig with plenty of extra change on the side.

Yeah apparently its $110 @ Newegg but I can get it for $100 canadian (nice sale going on)....after shipping + taxes itll be roughly $123..

I can also get a Antec 550W TC2 for $80 but its used for 1 year..

Both seem to be good and similar.

I'll tell you right now the OCZ, Enermax, Seasonic, and Fortron probably have more stable rails and voltages than that Antec. I've owned a TPII, which is quite similiar to the TCII w/o the voltage controls, and it certainly does get the job done, but its not something I would buy used for 1 year for $80. The TPII cost me only $75 new at newegg. But then again you're talkin Canadian dollars so Im not sure how that measures out to you. I say go Powerstream or Enermax, much more stable, new, and worth the extra $20.

If it?s the system in you sig 500 watts is far more then sufficient; did you read this?

300-350 watts would run your system, 400-450 would run it with plenty of headroom. More power isn't going to run your system any better, its just going to cost you more. Since there may/may not be problems with DFI and Seasonic this Forton-Source would be a great alternative.

Ok, so did you read the SPCR article or not? "You can lead a horse to water, but you can?t make him drink."

I would still go with this FSP.

Based your revised OCZ vs. Antec post, I'd go with the OCZ. I've done a lot of research on power supplies over the past couple of weeks and OCZ is the winner. What motherboard will you be using it with?

OCZ isn't anything special, there are many PSUs that are better for less money.

Yes, but it's based on a Seasonic so you better off going straight to the source.

Flip a coin!

FWIW the only thing that the Seasonic will do better than the OCZ is save you a couple of dollars on your electric bill each month.

I cancelled my OCZ order and got a Seasonic instead....probably the most quiet PSU here, 120mm fan, higher efficiency, newer technology....

Reason I was in such a hurry was because yesterday was the last day for the OCZ (MIR deal)

Hopefully it was the right choice!

All are OK.

The new M12 Seasonics should be out soon. The newer models of Seasonic should be in the pipeline by now and they are built using all Japanese/Nipponese electrolytic capacitors. I PMed ribbon13 the pdf concerning the testing of Nipponese vs Taiwanese/Chinese caps. For extended service life in a hot working enviroment (quiet fans), Nipponese caps are known for a much longer service life. My Zippys are 60~75% Nipponese caps. The Enhance I just bought uses Teapo caps, they do well in PSUs that have decent air flow.

My hope is that Seasonic does well in it's marketing of using premium caps, as it will drive the rest of the better builders to offer the same...Go Seasonic!!

Looks like the M12 wont come out until fall 2006..

Anyways, Ive been reading on PSUs again, what's this whole fiasco about dual 12Vs and how its not really better than a dedicated 12V? I read that some users are having trouble with their Dual Core, X1900XT Crossfire/7800GTX SLI setups, multiple drive rigs and Seasonic S12-600W..but when they ran the exact same rig on a Powerstream 520, there was no trouble at all because of the single 12V.....What's up with that? My rig is small right now (Opteron 144, 2 HDDs, 7900GT), but Im going dual core, raid-0, and im volt modding my 7900GT to GTX speeds soon..plus im running 5x120mm fans.......

i still dont understand the reason why you need a better PSU. that antec should be enough power to the config your using now. Your not on Xfire, your not using a X1900, your not massively loaded on hard drives.

Did you decide you wanted to drop in a new toy??? because if thats the reason, toys dont need reasons for purchases, as long as it makes you happy
