Yeah, yeah...never really played the 'game', just botmatches and network games. I had no idea how many levels there are! I resorted to god mode, just to get through the game. Even so, it took me a couple weeks of playing here and there, heavier on the weekends.

Now, if I can get past the first level of 'Return to Na Pali' :/

Probably not...I do have U2: The Awakening, though. I like the Tournament series better...just wanted to see Unreal through to the end.

Userman and I used to play the storyline in co-op mode. That game is fun as fuck. Unreal 2 is pretty cool too but I don't remember if you can play that co-op.

I got it just recently but can't even figure out what to do in the first outdoor level. I've gone from a ten-hours-a-day gamer to a two-hours-every-other-day-when-on-break gamer and completely suck now.

Yep. Back when games didn't have maps to memorize and fuckin arrows pointing where to shoot and where to run.

You know, back when you "played" video games, not just worked the controller.

I played "Unreal" on line for years until my computer crashed a few years ago.
Lots of good sites and custom maps, realism in sniper mode, not just a run around and shoot up thousands. Ive got all the set up codes somewhere. Wonder if the sites are still active.

Done with "Unreal"? Now go play Serious Sam.

Win.
The enhanced Serious Sams are now on Steam for cheap.

And I suspect this thread will get moved any day now.

I remember thinking I was getting close to then end, on like level 30, then looked it up online and theres 51 or so. What a fun game.

Was totally planning on finishing but my computer was stolen, along with all my game CD's

This was like 2000/2001 timeframe I'm not even sure. Never got back to it.

Want to sell me your CD?

You gotta take a chance man, hit the save button and try something!

IIRC, you have to jump off the cliff, just make sure you land in water.

I did some swimming in the river, but couldn't find much aside from a staircase which brought me through a hallway and back up to where I had jumped. Spent ~45 minutes wandering in circles and gave up. I'll fire it up again tonight, swallow my pride, and use a walkthrough. :$

There are some ramps that take you from the prison ship to the land, then the land into a cave, I believe. I think it goes by a waterfall? Man, it's been so long.

I played Unreal all the way through during college. Loved late night gaming, listening to NIN and fragging some fools in the dorm room.

Do you have the little PDA thingy? It's usually full of clues, be sure to read everything it downloads.

First of all, Unreal is one of the best single player games ever. Nothing has matched it's atmosphere and nothing ever will.

Second, get Unreal Tournament, the original, if you don't have it already. With that you can play what should have been the REAL sequel to Unreal that Unreal II was not.

7 Bullets, and it's prequel Xidia Gold, are what Unreal II should have been. Together they make up 28 professionally designed maps with a excellent story behind it all, with the classic Unreal gameplay.

Congratz. That's one of the best single player FPS campaigns of all time. I remember the first time I ever loaded it up, back in 2000, and I was blown away by the brilliant colors after having played Quake and Quake 2.

If you enjoyed playing the botmatch deathmatches, you might enjoy the online multiplayer Unreal Tournament games. I think your best bet in those regards is UT 2004 where you can still Onslaught servers (has vehicles) that fill up to 32 players each night as well as Invasion Monster Hunt RPG servers which you can play 24/7.

(In Invasion-RPG the server remembers your name and IP, allowing you to level up a character over several months time. There are things like magic weapons, etc. It's non-competitive but you can work with other players to do things like share weapons.)

Note that the original Unreal Tournament (1999) is widely regarded by many people as being the greatest online multiplayer FPS game of all time. In fact, people are still playing it to this day with a group of die-hards organizing 5v5 clan-match-like games over IRC. You can still find many populated public servers for it but they are mostly running various types of mods such as low-gravity Instagib. (Maybe you would like that, who knows.)

The Unreal Anthology for $7 looks like a great deal! Get that--you get Unreal 2, UT99, and UT 2004.

I just played Unreal not too long ago.

It's installed on one of my dad's PCs, but I didn't have any clue where the CD was so I never even tried it.

One day I accidentally clicked on it and it ran. Evidently it has no CD check.

I started to play Unreal in my new first IMAC in 1998, my God when I left the crashed ship and I heard the Skaark I pissed on my pants. Second Unreal was crap, Digital was under and later was sold o closed. Thanks to Unreal we got Unreal Tournament, UT was a fix from the Unreal multiplayer. Unreal game was awesome, the music owns.

Unreal 1 > Half-life 1

I'm probably one of the most rabid Half Life fanatics you could find but I think I would agree with that. In fact after reading that it strikes me Half Life simply replaced Unreal.

The Unreal series really is my favorite first person shooter ever. The flak cannon was just death in my hands.
