Whipped vanilla from Cellucor: (whey isolate)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011DDC7BC

$30 shipped for 2 pounds (4 pounds is a bit cheaper). Gets too foamy if you use a blender; comes out better with a blender bottle & cold milk. Basically makes it into a non-disgusting vanilla milk flavor (imagine vanilla Nesquik). I originally got it for making a protein cheesecake: (which was pretty good, although quark cheese is hard to find)

http://proteinpow.com/2013/08/dark-chocolate-almond-whey-protein.html

But it tasted so good I've mostly been using it just for protein shakes. I usually prefer just a smoothie with fruit or whatever, but this is good enough on its own to drink with just milk & a shaker bottle. I've been through a lot of crappy-tasting protein powders, so thumbs-up for one that doesn't taste like sawdust

Yeah, I was surprised at the cost, but the taste makes it worth it - leaps & bounds above other flavors I've tried. It's actually good, haha.

What flavors do you like with MTS, Culter, and Dymatize? I've found that flavors can range from awesome to terrible even within the same product lineup...like a chocolate can be great, but a strawberry can be disgusting.

Dymatize and BSN are the top 2 IMO. In general any pure whey isolate isn't going to taste that great, but some are truly terrible.

I've honestly just shifted to eating almost all animal proteins now. I'm not a fan of having tons of processed stuff (shelf life on some of these are like 2 years) and all the fake sugars used to sweeten it up. Can they help supplement a diet and make meals easier and quick? Yes. But I generally only need to eat about 30-35oz of protein a day to hit my macro's and I can get that all from meat pretty easily.

Have you tied True Nutrition? They've got tons of options and it's fairly well priced.

I like the key lime pie mts mixed with fage. that's the one I like.. I have also tried the red velvet. the red velvet is kind of weird as it tastes like you're drinking cake, but still good.

I have been buying cutler total protein lately. BB.com has been running deals on it, buy two get one free. I really like the banana cream pie. their smore's is good to.

I am normally just a straight chocolate person, which is what I always bought with the dymatize Elite 100% whey. dymatize did change their flavor and now it isn't enjoyable. it's plenty drinkable but not like it used to be.

I have been buying the 'odd' flavors because I have been using them to mix with my yogurt. I don't do many shakes anymore. maybe 5 a week, but I eat a lot of plain yogurt mixed with protein.

Syntha6 literally tastes like a milk shake, but you need to be a ware it is more than just a protein. it isn't a weight gainer, but it has fats in it. I only bought this because it was really a good deal.

keep in mind when I make a shake, I only add water. the key is is to use a hand blender. I never use milk... milk makes any protein taste good.e

Yeah. Now that I'm back on dairy & grains, I've been trying a lot more whey & casein recipes from ProteinPOW:

http://proteinpow.com/

Lots of fun ways to make snacks & also fit into IIFYM, like Protein Fluff:

Another vote for BSN Syntha-6, in particular the orange creamsicle, banana, or anything chocolate related like the chocolate mint. Not so much their strawberry or vanilla, though I have yet to find any vanilla whey that I like.

BTW if you find any brand of chocolate you like, you can buy peppermint extract from the store, and a single drop will give it a nice thin mint flavor

Nice, thanks for the tip!

I tried a few of the other flavors of Cellucor (strawberry, chocolate, and cookies & cream), they are junk. Not terrible, just not super amazing like the Whipped Vanilla. I'll have to try the BSN stuff next!

Taste wise, Protein World is easily the best I have ever had. Though I normal use ON because it has less sodium.

lol..voting this for most troll comment I have seen in a while

because all supplements are like steroids

Ive used tons of powder from cybergenics to pure protein to bsn to dymatize.

for me, I look at the amount of whey I need to take to the amound of protein I get from it, I look at the ingredients and the least amount of fluff inside is what I get.

after using many brands, twinlab had a very clean whey protein but no longer make it. it had 4-5 ingedients and tasted just great. only chocolate or vanilla.
today all the youngins look at the "science" and advertising they put into it. its hilarious how they psych people. usually the ones who think theyre "hardcore" the ones who use a neck pad for squats and gloves because they dont want calluses. puwssies.

now I use sportpharma. theyve been around for ages. they have excellent weight/grams to protein ratio, great price, great taste, and minimal ingredients.

less ingredients is better. most here dont even know wtf are those ingredients anyway so they see a big label with tons of shet inside and think "wow thats great" - I pay for protein, not fluff. and isolate is overpriced and unnecessary at all. protein powder is not a miracle product, its just food. and if you dont eat regular food, PP wont save you. just look for a pp that has whey concentrate as your first ingredient and isolate as the second. $45 for a 5lb is a decent price. anything more and youre paying too much for no reason.

on sucks ass. theyve become to snobby, upped prices like crazy. I use a 5lb every 18 days.

I'm 67 yrs old, 6'2" 178lbs, 33" waist 42" chest, cholesterol and BP numbers excellent. I was a track/tennis guy in high-school and college, and continued playing local tennis tourneys through my mid-thirties. Worsening rotator cuff issues ended my tennis playing.

I just recently got back into weight-training after @ 10 yrs away. I've been lifting @ 4 times a week, doing only incline bench press and lat pull downs (diff days). Five sets each exercise.

It's weird, but I get little/no shoulder pain weight training.

After a warm-up set, my 5 sets are really a 'super set' (only @ 30-60 secs between sets). My heaviest set(BP) is first (210lbs for 5-6 reps), then 190lbs/5-6 reps, 170lbs/same, 150lbs/same, and 130/5-7 reps, each set done to failure, doing this twice/week.

My lat pull downs routine is the same, 5 sets, is one big super set, start at 160lbs, 140, 120, and 100, each set to failure and @ 30-60 secs between.

For the last several months I have been using Integrated Supplements Whey. Here's a link. No, I do not work for them, nor am I paid for mentioning this.

So, I'm benching 30 lbs over my body weight for @ 5 reps.... not bad for an old, lanky bastard!!

For whey protein, I use unflavored NOW protein isolate.
http://www.nowfoods.com/Whey-Protein-Isolate-Unflavored-10lbs.htm

For soy protein, I use unflavored Honeyville soy isolate (90% protein bv)
http://shop.honeyville.com/soy-protein-isolate.html

My biggest objection is that Honeyville likely doesn't use non-GMO product. Although all of their soy is sourced from the US, Canada and Brazil.

Then I add some fruits, green leafy veggies, vanilla and stevia for additional flavor. Nothing can beat the taste of real fully ripened fruit. Only then do know 100% what I'm getting, great quality and value in a pure isolate.

Many protein powders contain misleading labels, with less protein and more actual additives and other fillers.

supplements are not good on long term basis

Supplements are only good when used to supplement a well-balanced diet. For instance, there's no way I could hit my daily macros of 1.3-1.5 grams of protein per pound without protein powders. There are also some vitamins/minerals/nutrients which are only completely bioavailable in supplement form.

I like the taste of Muscle Milk.

Might want to reconsider if you base your decision on protein quality and content, not taste. Ouch.

We posted the same link within minutes of each other. According to labdoor.com, Myprotein ranks highest in quality and price. Myprotein has really risen in the ranks over a short ten years and were smart to affiliate themselves with youtubers from the beginning. I might wait for their next sale and buy some.

Oh and congrats. I wanna be lifting into my sixties and beyond too. Fifty years of gains and inspiration.

Thanks.

They are in the UK? Product coming from there, or do they have USA distribution?

If you only care about taste, Allmax Isoflex peanut butter chocolate, and the majority of Body Nutrition Trutein flavors are really good.

There's also Bodybuilding.com platinum series hydrogen cookies & cream which tastes quite nice as well.

The only issue is that these proteins are a bit more expensive than others if cost is an issue.
