finally going ssd, question abput my choices.

hello all looking at these three drives:

the callisto deluxe

this is supposed to be mushkins "premium" line and has the faster NAND memory then the chronos but it has the SF1200 controller

just how much faster is it then the chronos deluxe for $1 more? is it even faster? because everthing i read seems to say the sf2281 controller is clearly better.

or am i just better off getting the OCZ?? i am a little leary of them from reputation and past experiences.

The SF2281 is a newer generation controller. Don't bother getting the older one just to save $1. Even the most budget newer one will outperform the most premium older one.

Crucial M4 128GB at 125$ is much better. SandForce controllers is just horrible.

The SF2281 on the chronos is actually the cheaper one ($2). The controller is newer. But the NAND on the older is supposed to be significantly faster. Just wanted to know if there would actually be a difference between the two.

In "real world" you probably won't notice a difference between the two, but either will be much faster than your HDD.

Doesn't matter about the NAND. The SF1200 limits performance forever to SATA II speeds. SF2281 can just about double that.

Zap knows what he is talking about and was not confused.
The fastest NAND on older controller is worse the slowest NAND on the superior controller.

Ok. Finally broke down and got the Plextor. Had great luck with the ODD's back in the day and it seems the reviews here on Anand and elsewhere shows they still make quality stuff.
