Finally got a decent digital camera

After many years of borrowing digi cams or using my fiancee's 3mp basic digicam, I bought what I think is a really nice camera.

I got a Canon S3 IS. I had thought about a DSLR, but decided I probably wouldn't carry it around enough to get all the shots I might want to get. So I figured that the S3 would give me enough manual options while still being easier to carry around. I have already installed the RAW mode hack and that works fine (but at 7MB for a RAW + 2MB for a JPEG, my 2GB card will fill up fast).

So my question is, are there any good books out there on taking good digital pictures. I'd like to get into photography (as opposed to just friends and holiday parties).

Check the photography resource thread stickied at the top of this forum for links to great beginner turotials and the like. The S3IS is a great camera. I started with the S2IS, and quickly moved on to the DSLR world afterwards.

I've also done the same. Although, I used a G5 to learn on. You will still get some really amazing shots with that thing once you learn how to use it. Right now I'm stepping it up to an SLR. Just have fun with your camera! :thumbsup:
