I received my Enzotech Ultra from Jab-tech 2 days ago, but I realized that it was impossible to install. My lian li pc-v1000 has an upside down motherboard layout leaves no space between the edge of the CPU side of the motherboard and the divider that seperates the mobo from the lower section. So now I'm wondering if any other top of the line CPU air cooling will fit because of the size and layout of my case and board. I was considering going water cooling, but again the upside down design might be a problem. If i get an internal drop-in water cooling kit it would have to detach to my rear 120mm exhaust fan. But the problem is that just like the CPU socket there is less than an inch between the bottom of the fan and the divider. I don't know anything about water cooling, but I would guess that it would be a bad idea to have the WC kit upside down. So now I'm not sure what to do.

In addition I now have a $60 hsf that I chave no other use for. Does jabtech take refunds on open products or am I stuck with it?

Send them a message and explain everything.
The worst thing they may say is that you will have to pay to ship it to them and they will charge you some restocking fee. This is of course as long as you have not scratched it or thrown away anything.

Or you can sell it yourself to someone who wants it.

You can put the Enzotech in any of the 4 ways which will fit. I looked at your case, and if you flip it over it looks just like any other case, so I don't understand why it won't fit?

I'm confused too, if you look here, http://www.dansdata.com/pcv1000.htm then you can clearly see where the mobo goes, it's just like any other case, right ? I don't understand why a aftermarket hsf shouldn't fit, unless the case itself is just to small, but all cases are at least 'x' inches wide, since they have to fit HD's and DVD players and such.

Perhaps you should move the rear 120mm fan to the exterior of the case. That will give you at least another inch to work with.

Thanks for the replies though I do feel they patronized me a bit for assuming I don't know how to install a hsf.

But I must apoligize because I was mistaken. The Ultra X will not fit regardless of orientation. However this isn't a case issue. (Well sort of but no really.)
In fact it turned out to be an issue with my motherboards layout. I have a EVGA 680i and it seems that the CPU socket is located much closer to the edge than other motherboard layouts. This in combination with the lian li's motherboard placement (which gives less than half a centimeter of space between the edge of the motherboard and center divider plate) makes the installation of the Ultra-X impossible.

I initally thought it was the case design because because I have another regular ATX case and there is about an inch of space between the cpu (top) side of the mobo and the rack for the PSU. I do not have a digital camera right now, but I will take photos to make this clearer later.

So again my problem now is finding a well performing small-form air cooler or switching to water. But because the rear exhaust fan is located at the bottom and not the top all kits that attach to the rear exhaust would only fit if it was flipped upside down. I'm assuming this would be a problem, or can WC kits actually function properly upside down?

Orientation doesn't matter with water kits. Only thing to remember is if your res is not the highest point make sure it seals tight, and bleeding can take longer and be a bit more of a hassle.

What CPU are you cooling, at what speeds and voltage? The freezer 60 pro I don't think is much wider than a stock heatsink IIRC, might want to double-check that.

IMHO...

I would dump the Lian Li before I got rid of the EnzoTech Ultra-X!

As you can plainly see, nobody is offering 40 bucks for your case...

There's a lesson to be learned here!

I have the same mobo. There is about 52mm of space between the center of the cpu socket and the edge of the mobo. If there is another 5mm between the edge of the mobo and the PSU divider, then you have 57mm, or a total dimension of 114mm to work with. This is confirmed as I have read about people using the regular 114mm Zalman 9500 (not that I would recommend that!) with this 680i/LL combo and it *just* fits.

There are several other good heatsinks that fit 114mm (Ninja is one), but unfortunately a lot of the bigger ones will not. You can keep and eye out for the Thermalright Ultima-90, which is supposedly coming out some time in June (according to emails I've had with TR), and has a dimension of 115mm. So it *might* fit.

Also, some of the of the towers would fit sideways, but wouldn't give you the optimal front-back airflow. But, I've heard of people doing that too.

I have the same MOBO as well. Because of how close the the CPU socket is located to the edge of the board, it is difficult to fit any large heatsink onto the board and then into a case even with a non-inverted case.

My Thermalright eXtreme only fits in at an angle in order to clear the PSU compartment at the top of my Lian Li G70.
