How much space is there between the front of CPU cooler and back of GPU below it? It looks rather close, but pics like this can be deceiving.

Close, but both fans pull up.

They run towards the 200mm in the top so they are pulling, not pushing.

I reversed the fans and moved one to the opposite side before installing it.

It pulls air from the backside of the GPU.

I'm sure it is, but not as much as it would if there was an inch or more between them. I'm assuming you mounting bottom to top instead of front to back for a good reason.

Hardware Canucks reviewed it and found that a similar bottom PS standard layout Corsair case was 1c cooler.

Actually, what they found was that the 600C flipped on its head was 1C cooler. I.e. the exact same case just turned upside down performed better. This is not quite the same as comparing to a standard layout case where PSU ventilation is separated, but close enough.

Sorry but that is crazy thinking.

All it shows is that the Corsair case on it's head with their system is 1c cooler.

It in no way proves inverted motherboard cases are worse or better.

Testing one case with one build proves nothing.
a 1c difference is also not enough difference to prove anything. I suspect their room ambient could easily change +/-0.5c
If they said that they have no knowledge of how to test the concept. Or to be blunt are stupid and/or blind to reality.

indeed.
The 1c better cooling when upside could also be because what were bottom with only the space of feet for airflow now have unrestricted airflow up and away from case.

What is crazy thinking? Be more precise.

It's not meant to prove anything other than that Corsair 600C doesn't actually benefit from inverted layout. That's what the test itself says, no interpretation or thinking is required. I.e. it's really just a gimmick to make the case stand out from the crowd.

It proves that that one case doesn't benefit from inverted layout.

indeed.

but the CPU cooler intake can only draw what little air is able to get between the GPU PCB and cooler fins, meaning the group of heatpipes in the center of fist fin pack get no cool air. And these center pipes are the ones that carry the bulk of heat away from CPU.

Sorry, I misinterpreted your post. It is not crazy thinking, it was crazy interpretation on my part.

Actually, while 1c is not enough to be at all definitive, it does appear having less resistance to radiator exhaust may be the cause of the 1c difference.

Again, sorry for the misunderstanding.
