Um, I think a few years ago when I needed some electrical parts for a potato gun. Radio shack is great because the buttons are right next to the battery housings and the electrical wire is right there within reach. Everything you need for a vicious spud chucker. They should rename the place Spud Shack.

I read some of the stories there. Interesting!!!

I like the first one about the horrible manager yelling at employees during Thanksgiving. NO ONE WALKED INTO THE STORE ON BLACK FRIDAY. LOL.

Honestly when was the last time you bought something from RS?

I think 2013. I needed some connectors. It's very convenient but the electronics hobbyist is a rare breed these days.

I heard they were propping up radioshack to prevent triggering derivatives tied to its bankruptcy. IE it was cheaper to dump money into radioshack to prevent it from going bankrupt before XYZ date, than the losses that would have been incurred by the banks if the derivatives were triggered.

Makes sense why they kept open so many zombie stores. It should have gone tits up years ago.

I know some of the RS are owned outright. I bought something at RS a few years ago and tried to return it at another RS. The person at that RS told me that this is a privately owned RS and you must go there. On the top of the recieve it had a person's name like "Johns Electronics RS".

they only stocked like 5 pages of their 100 page catalog in the back corner and the front of the store was cellphones and remote control toys. Used to get my chips/resistors/diodes and other component stuff like switched/buttons.

home depot had better quality multimeters, crimps and soldering guns for cheaper.

Where the heck am I supposed to get parts for my Realistic police scanner now?

Radio Shack pulled out of Canada about 10 years ago. Circuit City bought them out and were rebranded "The Source by Circuit City". When they went under, Bell Canada bought them, so now it's just "The Source". They mostly sell cell phones and accessories now. Still carry some electronics like TVs and laptops, but not much.

Think the last two things i bought was a coax cable for a CB, and game for Tandy 1000. Don't see how they can stay open selling odd connectors and switches.
